Thought it was thread worthy. Congrats to the young bloke, can't wait to see him out there.

I reckon Jackson would have been promoted at the start of the year after his NAB cup, but he injured his knee. TC will get his chance mid year I think.

Excellent!

Nick off GWS, don't come snooping round our boy ;)

He needs to grow into the 6ft 4 body that Jacko has.

Fair enough; we're certainly short on key position players of the defensive ilk. But we're not too flush with players that have a knack for winning contest possessions and centre clearances, so I would have thought that Curren was worth a go. He has to have some rather serious underlying deficiencies for him not to have been given a run by now, I would think.

Oh, only that his family lives in western Sydney and was home sick for awhile.

Moved in with some boys and seems a lot more settled and mature.

Thanks for that

You also missed the and kicks goals as a mid comment. Because we be plush with those sorts of players currently in the line up...

But yes, strike young moosling. Strike like a winkle!

We've made quite a habit of nabbing much of our defense from late picks and useless trades.

Chips Pick 55
Gwilt Pick ~60
Dempster steak knives
Stanley Pick 47
Gilbert Pick 33

Not to mention Dawson (rookie) and Simpkin (rookie).

Let's hope we can add Ferguson to that list in a couple years. Congrats Jacko and all the best!

Is there any chance that JFerg could bulk out more and mature into a seriously mobile 'true' CHB? Or is he always likely to be that not-quite, 3rd man up, running defender?

I really hope he isn't just another oversized flanker. Give him a season taking the second tall and see how he goes. He'll learn from it and hopefully he can at least become an option back there.

The reason I ask, is because if he can, and as a hypothetical we do get say Sully and Dunstan, I would love to see this team in the NAB Cup - even though it would get pantsed:

FB: Simpkin // Sully // Roberton
HB: Wright // Ferguson // Geary(c)
CR: Newnes // Ross // Ledger
RK: Hickey // Curren // Dunstan
HF: Markworth // Lee // Shenton
FF: Stanley // White // Minchington
Int: Webster Dunell Saunders Murdoch

Of course, there's a few there that might not be at the club come next year, but we get little out of seeing Joey, Dal, Dempster and so on play in the NAB, and basically nothing out of watching Roo and Lenny go through the motions. Imagine the excitement.
