Geelong would probably need to get a third club involved or give up a decent footballer. As a Carlton supporter I'd be happy to get involved and nab a Guthrie or Duncan type.

The two clubs can get it done without a 3rd club needed. Guthrie or Duncan won't be involved.

and Collingwood and GWS don't have the Best Relationship with Trading

Adams.
Treloar.
WHE.

Not bad. They might take their time to haggle over the details but they get done for not unreasonable prices.

I highly doubt that unless you send them your 2018 first. I can't understand how a top 10 pick can drop out of the first round after only two years when he has plenty of upside. It makes no sense how you can not only retain but pay quality footballers like that. But whatever apparently you're some kind of expert...

Well we had Issues with the Treloar Trade and People Felt we paid overs for WHE compared to what Carlton paid.

They are 3 Good Players so we got Players right but the Question is more on the Price Paid for them

I think considering your club president was waving the flag against our club I think it impacted things

Carlton took salary dumped players though. Collingwood only took premium players - two first round picks and probably a top 3 midfielder his age and under at the time of the trade.

Geelong will get a second rounder for Motlop

I'd be happy for a pack of Doritos for him so we'll definitely take the 2nd rounder!

Perhaps we give two of our 2nd round picks to GWS, they give us Hopper & a 3rd round pick? I'm terrible at trade scenarios :/

As has been said already if Hopper wants Geelong the 2 clubs will work out a deal.
Both clubs seem to have gotten on well at the trade table in the past cant see why that wouldn't continue

Geelong will get a couple of picks for players they trade out. That'll give them purchasing power.

I hope this comes to pass. And I'm confident whatever the deal ends up being that both clubs will be satisfied. I haven't seen enough of Hopper but what I've seen I've been very impressed with. Reminds me of what we were hoping to get when we traded for Caddy.

But whom? They will need to trade out some quality to get the picks to acquire hopper. Unless you go through the draft you can't expect to trade in future guns without giving anything up. This whole 'we will sort something out' motto only works if you have currency.

I see someone like Guthrie as a potential option here. More midfield minutes, higher salary....

Tiges will work something out. We'd be a great situation for him to walk into. We've got two first rounders and with Naish coming through we have incentive to get rid of one of them at least. Most other teams rumored to be in the hunt for Hopper would be more reluctant to hand over a first round pick for him.

Not sure you'd have to, and I do get a player could easily walk into a worse club at a more inopportune time. It will be his wishes in the end. Playing in front of big crowds at the G may well be on his bucket list.
:D Not just in September I mean.

I rate hopper but players two years in who have had injuries, havent fully established themselves yet and are OOC will just about always drop in value.

See caddy going at 7 then traded for 15 and 55, steele traded for less than what he was picked at, marchbank 6 then traded for 16 etc.

I have no idea what club he will pick but whoever it is a pick in the 15-25 range will get it done which geelong can easily come up with, as can a heap of other clubs.

As for guthrie one of his brothers is on our rookie list, the other brother players for our vfl team and his best childhood mate (blicavs) is on the list-he is going nowhere.

It's too bad for the salary cap. You are probably the most attractive Victorian destination right now and have good currency. You have the picks for Jones and Hopper and Ried is a free agent who would be a great fit.

Agree with a lot of that.

Still you need a key forward more than you need hopper though. Griffiths is injury prone and elton is rubbish.

I think we'll address the key forward need through FA but you're right, it's definitely more of a pressing need and Elton is rubbish.

A pick between 15-25 ,would be an absolute steal!!

Going by the trade whisperers record there is little chance he'll get to the pies. And yeah as others have said, pies don't need more mids right now.
Really pies need mids absolutely, Degoey and Treloar that's it. Going forward Pendle hitting his 30's see him go back Hodge style. Adams I don't see him as either having the talent or remaining at the pies to make his mark, Sidebottom could be used different forward or back. Wells not long term. The absolute problem at the pies Is the midfield. No hunger and lacking in talent. The list is not in a mess but it needs clever rejig and then the coaches need to nimble enough to create players to be flexible. I don't know if guys like Hopper will make a difference, but turning over the current midfield group at the pies is a start in the right direction.

Hawks future first would be the spot on price for Hopper... just sayin
Mitchell, O'mera, Hopper... awesome!

Carlton makes sense with their rebuild

Geelong makes sense.... no it doesn't!

North have blinkers for a big fish

Richmond want to keep Dusty

Bulldogs are stocked at inside mid

Callingwood could actually do with a mid.... o_O

Bombers actually would be a good fit but his skin complexion would look terrible in black & red

Melbourne don't need him

Carlton, Bombers, Geelong, Hawks...
$$$, coach, premierships, facilities.

I can feel a # coming on...

You know it makes sense.

You've been drinking the Buckley Kool Aid. The only thing Collingwood has is midfielders
