1. There is no replacing Roger
2. Surjan is short, slow, not great overhead and has a heart bigger then Pharlap. The question mark is that he is a Vice-Captain who can't get a game with the worst team in the comp.

Surjan turns around to the crowd smiling and pulling at his jumper and pointing to it, then runs off to the center of the ground to hug and kiss his fellow players.

That's true, also in several interviews he just about openly admited his lack of respect for Freo and how he grew up as a Slime supporter.

I wasn't thinking picks, just thought he was no longer in Port's plans for whatever reason.

Can you shed some light as to why is he is running around in the magoos

While you are at rock bottom, is it form, coach, injury ?

As you know Lower is a beauty, and as they say, 1 mans trash is another mans traesure

He had major surgery last year and spent most of the pre-season recovering from it. Lost the vice captaincy at the start of this year so I guess the coaches knew he would be in and out of the team.

Last few weeks he has played well but we haven't recalled him.

When fit he is the best small shutdown player in the league and has been since 2008. Not slow at all, no attitude problems (Has played up forward with Motlop this year and they work fine together on-field) and doesn't make mistakes by foot...

I dunno. I can see him being shopped around because a gun small defender in a bottom 8 team seems a bit of a waste. Problem is reading these posts he probably isn't keen on Freo and WC are going ok for small backs at the moment.

Would love Lower to do well. It wasn't going to happen under Choco so it's good to see him go back to the SANFL and work on his game and earn another shot at it.
