Literally took me 5 seconds to look it up and you are indeed correct. He should be sitting directly behind the bench!
I wish he could be behind the bench, was very influential early days teaching our young defenders

Carlisle Drug Claim ‘Ridiculous’Posted: 21 March, 2016 by Triple M Footy

Triple M Footy’s Damian Barrett has rubbished Jake Carlisle’s claim that the stresses of the Essendon doping scandal led him to use recreational drugs.

A video of Carlisle emerged on social media last October showing him snorting a white powder.

He was subsequently suspended for the first two matches of this season by his new club St Kilda (a ban that has been superseded by the year-long ban he received from the Court of Arbitration for Sport in January) and his contract was revised heavily.

The Age
reported on Monday that Carlisle’s lawyers made a link between the drawn-out Essendon saga and Carlisle’s off-season drug use.

But Purple was having none of that.

“I don’t think I’ve heard anything more ridiculous,” Damo told Triple M’s Rush Houron Monday.

“I’m not one to naturally defend Essendon on any aspect of this case but for Carlisle to say that, ‘I took illicit drugs based upon Essendon giving me potentially performance-enhancing ones,’ it’s a pretty long bow as far as I see.

“He’s entitled to claim legally but I wouldn’t be using that as a reason when it’s all said and done, I reckon they’ve got enough to deal with and just deal with the facts of the matter and they’re as bleak as they can be anyway from an Essendon perspective.”

Purple also told JB and Billy that Essendon are about to be hit by at least 34 legal cases from past and present players arising from their ill-fated 2011-12 supplement program.

you should have seen the put down tweet by Carlisle to purple.

It was hilarious.

I don't know how to post tweets otherwise I would.

This explains why he was on crutches in the Snapchat photo discussed earlier.

Getting himself cherry ripe for when he returns. :D He'll be in a better head space when he returns too I'd imagine. His year out could actually benefit our club hugely in the end.

How long would of this kept him out normally? 4-6 weeks?

Backing up Barrett here, lest we forget this gem;

Josh Thomas now a Collingwood rookie said:
"We can only assume it occurred in a night out prior to testing, when we took illicit drugs,""At no stage did we knowingly take clenbuterol."

Whilst no doubt he may be off the mark with regards to Carlisle, the amount of players on something illicit is staggering that it's far more likely that Carlisle got mixed up in it because it's the thing to do and less so because he got royally screwed by his previous club.

I mean, Purple was just on MMM stating that there's a club with 3 positive results being told it's the minor end, and some clubs with 75% hits, or some club where every player tested positive for some form of illicit drug (ie he said the Pies had 11 players test positive). Even if he's wrong by 50% and pillored for it, that's still 40-45% of total AFL listed players on illicit drugs, ie, easily a hundred.

He's a nong, but I'd generally back him to be closer to the mark on this one.

Did Barrett ever mention the "Carlisle suing Saints" comment again after he found it he was way off the mark?

Not that I have heard or seen no, seems to be hopign it fades into obscurity which it likely will because ZOMG ROUND1 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO will prevail.

The AFL had to end players self reporting due to a particular club exploiting it

Maybe its time we stopped even testing afterall no ones life is at risk if another player has illegal drugs.
Depends which "illegal drugs" are taken and on the amount and quality of them.

One day in the not too distant future when the AFL is ramping up the pressure on some poor Melbourne based club to move to Tasmania or NZ, we will look back and think we should've pushed Essenscum out a long time ago when we had the chance.

Well if you were off your head they wouldn't play you. Usain Bolt can take as much as he likes and WADA don't give a stuff unless its on running day. Why do we care about what players do in their own time. I can understand certain industries but this a war that isn't going to be won.

Yet Garry Lyon getting depressed and therefore left alone due to fuc&ing his best mate's wife or daughter is a legitimate excuse and the media fall over themselves to respect that load of horse sh1t (refer Footy Classified).

However a player who states that being used as a pharmacological experiment with no demonstrable record of what he took can't say that caused stress leading in some part to a rash and self admittedly stupid decision.

Go in into the corner, take your pants down and give yourself an uppercut Barrett you low level oxygen thief. Where is your consistency or are you a whore to selling column inches as directed by your overlords?

We're not seriously expecting the sports journalism fraternity in Australia to have some kind of moral compass are we?
No, not morality. But how about professionalism. Back in the day, I worked for Fairfax 2, the digital arm of Fairfax media. I would have been roasted by my editor if I pulled out half the shoddy crap these guys get away with these days.

Does anyone put any weight in Barrett's opinions on anything though? He may be on the money a fair amount with his mail, but I don't think too many rate him or his personal opinions on anything very highly.
Barrett's latest sliding doors for the Saints:

"If we're worried about a club's win-loss progress from last season as we enter 2016 ...
... it is this one."
