Let me start by saying I've never been a jake king fan and frankly if he didn't have a contract this year he would have been delisted along with mcmahon who was in the same boat.
However he's game last night was very very good, he shut dalsanto out while picking up kicks himself and also look assured most of the night. I'm not going to make any outlandish statements however maybe just maybe there is a future for king beyond this year if he keeps up form like that.

We all know the guys has tremendous heart but maybe he can offer more then just his willingness for the contest?
Thought it was one of his best games for the club and I say well done to him and hope there are plenty more to come.

I actually thought he was pretty good. I was laughing at his foot in the back lol. I have 7 changes for next game and king may be unlucky with foley and jacko coming back. King will have to play forward if nahas and morton get dropped

I doubt very much he will be dropped on that performance, I'd say one of morton or nahas for sure as both provided little, simmonds obviously although I'd say either vickery or polak will come back in to help gus in the ruck.

that was piss funny, I may have ruptured my spleen, was so grateful they replayed it, did myself an injury. that and Andy's BS goal the highlights. I fortunately missed the 1st q so it wasnt too bad a game to watch - we were always going to get crushed in the 4th some pretty good efforts across the park, just need another forward,

He was actually pretty good last night. Still turned it over a bit. But might need a week at coburg considering who is to come back.

Agreed thought he played well last night, doesnt deserve to be dropped after his last 3 weeks. Felt like dal santo did nt even touch the ball.

Well done Kingy

Also love his angry eyes when players are getting up in his face its that channeled aggression this club needs to get back

his foot in the back was that stupid he should be dropped. his game apart from that was good, but still stupid stupid jake. will not suprise me if he is out next week.

I've never been a fan of King. But I will give him credit for trying and never giving up. Unlike some of our other players - Morton and McMahon.

Played very well. I can't recall Dal santo doing much damage, stats are a bit deceiving Dal had 23 touches @ 91% efficiency compared to King 17 touches @ 59%. But King had 14 kicks to Dal's 6 and a lot of King's kicks were long and penetrating, had 4 inside 50s.

Should keep his spot, I'm not in favour of replacing form players with returnees especially where the returnees have no Coburg form to warrant their inclusion (eg Foley, Jackson). Need to put reputations aside and select on form pure and simple.

king is a goer, no doubt about that, if he was 3 inches taller he would be a very important and versatile player. being short you need that something special. good luck to him, he will be one of many hardwick and co will be deciding on between now and end of year.

He was okay last night. Did a good tagging job on NDS, but his kicking still let down a few promising buildups. I'd suggest he'll remain in the side for next week, but will lose his spot soon.

3 good games in a row for Kingy. Well done. He is getting closer for a 1 year contract extension i reckon.

Let's hope not. Guy is just a battler. If DH gives him another contract I will lose a lot of faith in him.

Kingy could win a Brownlow and you would still want him delisted. Doesnt matter what he does or how well he plays you will always post the same opinion on him. I dont really see why you would bother with a thread like this.

At the start of the season I didn't believe he would still be on our list come 2011.

He does have some good attributes to be a tagger:

Pros: He is quick, tough, aggressive and able to get under the skin of opponents. Will give his all every day of the week

Cons:
  1. Gives away silly frees
  2. Is short and doesn't defend well close to goals. Taller opponents pushed forward can expose this
  3. Disposal occasionally suspect.
He has definately improved in the last few weeks. IMO he hasn't done enough yet to warrant a new contract. However I conceed that should he continue to improve and maintains that level of performance he will earn himself a spot on our list for next year.

We already have two or three better taggers on the list. He's been decent, but he's never going to take us forward and we need the extra spots on the list to give ourselves every chance of landing players who will take us to a premiership. The cutting needs to be extremely harsh at the end of the season or we'll end up in the same place we always do, languishing out of the 8 with a bunch of solid triers.

Jackson and ??

Good teams, great teams will always have good players playing in the vfl. ideally, they want their best 22 out on the park all the time but in reality that doesnt happen, this is when guys like king are useful. Is he in our best 22 if we had a full list from what we have seen so far, no. Is he good enough to play a role or fill in when required, yes. If people disagree with this then they just dont like him.

The stats also say that McGuane had 100% disposal efficiency with 5 clangers. How the hell does that work?!

I believe that a free kick against is counted as a clanger.

the only time i get a build up when jake king is listed is when we play against collingwood

Cons:
  1. Gives away silly free
Our top five for frees againsed

1- McGuane 15
2- Jack 14
3- Dusty 14
4- Simmo 13
5- Cotchin 12

Kingy (9) has some nice company:)

And Kingys Ave Eff% is 63.27 and Cotch`s is 62.69% Curiosity got me, Judd ave Eff 65.32%

And Friday night Cotch had a terrible Eff% of 29.41

If that was Kingy the whole forum would be after his blood.

And againsed the Bombers Kingy had an Eff% of 91 And hardly anyone bothered to give him some credit.
