I'd rather Geelong were proactive, rather than waiting for other clubs to get sidetracked.Yeah in principle but things do occur that can sidetrack some deals
Also adds a lot of pressure onto Dons by making that publicAFL Trade radio just spoke to Jason McCartney. They are saying that Geelong has the better offer for the Dogs in regards to the overall deal with a player trade involved as well. McCartney said they have spoken to Stephen Wells but not in great detail yet but that they are not in a hurry and have plenty of time. Doesn't sound a lock in to the Dons at all. Plenty of water still to go under the bridge and we are still well in the hunt.

Gambling too, there have been a ton including Jordan, Rooney (also cheated), Terry (also cheated), Charles Barkley...We love a public shaming!
- SJ was driving like a goose, getting hammered, gambling, jumping off fences and generally being a muppet. Turned out alright, might be a head coach one day.
- Mackie was trying to punch bouncers (or was it cops) out on the lash back around 2005-06. Rumour (might be 100% bullshit) was that he loved the punt too. Turned out alright.
- Scarlo came out and admitted he loved a beer and didn't take footy seriously enough. Turned out alright.
- Lachie Whitefield was allegedly out on the pingers. Looked pretty good on his return.
- Andre Agassi was a freaking ice fiend. Turned out alright.
- (I was a fairly adventurous and entertaining individual in my youth. I turned out alright!)
I could rattle off another 15-20 international and local sports people (and others) who have shown suspect behaviour in their time and gone on to achieve big things in their respective fields. In fact if we bring in infidelity, it would be almost easier to name the NFL and NBA players who haven't cheatedGambling too, there have been a ton including Jordan, Rooney (also cheated), Terry (also cheated), Charles Barkley...
Without knowing anything about his relationship, his home life, his family, his mental health, his physical health, his maturity levels, etc. I think anyone commented on the bloke is 100% full of shit and basing their opinion on diddly-squat and hearsay. In fact, why people think that their opinion on something they have no real knowledge about is relevant boggles my mind.
Clubs need to do their due diligence and I am sure they will. Put simply, 23-year-old All Australian, 50+ goalkickers don't come around all too often PLUS if you can get them on the cheap because he cheated on his missus and acted like a muppet ALL THE BETTER.
(I am just sick of people who are so keen to public shame and blame people - its weird, get over yourselves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_You've_Been_Publicly_Shamed <-- good reading for ya'll)
Yeah that's why so many deals happen on the final day, yeah?Anyone with half a brain knows most deals are done b4 the start of trade period

Double yeahYeah that's why so many deals happen on the final day, yeah?
Do you think we might still snag Sloan then? This.Theres a lot going on behind the scenes that we have no idea about.
The Stringer deal is not done, the Ablett deal is not done, the Watts deal is not done....etc..etc....and that's the ones we know about. Hawthorn were famous for the last minute grab.....a long way to go in this trade period.

Sorry to intrude but Agassi was worse than Tomic and nick, a real party boy. His turnaround was unbelievable I think he found god if you know what I mean. The cats culture and the way they deal with problem individuals is second to none tough love and supportNot so sure about that Reg....Andre Agassi was a total ragbag in his early 20's and became one of the great sportsmen of his generation.
Not so sure Stringer has the wherewithal to take anything like that sort of step though.....so I take your point.

I view stringer the same way the cats would, he's not a problem he's hopefuly very good asset. With the right support, tough love and good leadership around him I'm sure he will turn out just fine. He divided the bulldogs and split the club they did not know how to deal with him.No intrusion...I suspect Stringer is your problem now...it will be interesting to see if the EFC can reign him in.
Good post Scotty. I agree almost to the word.We love a public shaming!
