Fall Out Boy

He's currently being pimped around like a $2 hooker by the Hornets after falling out with management.

If your team had the chance to get him, would you want him?

There are a few pros and cons for Mash.

Pros

* Unbelievably gifted baller

* Highly versatile and willing to play a secondary role

* Legitimate triple-double threat when fit

* Has the passing skills of a PG, and the rebounding ability of a PF

* An inside/outside threat

Cons

* Injury prone

* Possible attitude problems

* Massive contract (will earn about $18-19M US over the last two years of his deal)

So, taking all that into account, would you want your team to pursue Jamal?

im betting the mash will end up somewhere like the clippers or atlanta if hes got an attitude problem.

however, i reckon the grizz could use him nicely if he stays on the floor. youve got the awesome finishers off the break and inside, now you just need someone with an inside outside game who can really spread the floor.

Excellent point about the inside/outside thing, however i think we've got greater priorities at this point.

We've got great depth at the 2/3 spots (Bonzi, Posey, Battier, Miller, Dahntay), and all are significantly younger, and earn significantly less than Mash.

I'm certain we'll move Mike Miller, who Jerry West was disgusted in after the playoffs, for a big man.

The rumour i heard was Miller and Jake Tsakalidis for Juanny and DeSagana Diop. I'd be happy with that trade myself, although i can't see the salaries matching up.

Possibly the only SF of any repute that I would not rather have over Rashard Lewis.

Assume you are also a Sonics fan.

I'd love Mashburn in Seattle, certainly far superior to Lewis and Radmanovic.

Would help our offence, both with his scoring ability, and his vision/passing, which would give Ray Ray many more open looks.

Only problem is that he wouldn't solve our defensive problems.

I'd do that, if I was a Grizz man.

I would like to see Mashburn go. But we will not cash in on him, that is for sure. We needed to do this a year or two ago...

i see what you mean phat. i suppose bonzi and posey are similar players to mash, tho not as explosive. i just thought that was what you lacked in the playoffs this year. but as you say, we are also taking age into consideration.

honestly if detroit hadnt picked up rasheed, i wouldnt have minded getting him in. probably still wouldnt be bad. as sprewell has showed often for the t-wolves this year, if you have a quality player who can break up a defense, you are going to win more games than you lose.

I wouldn't, purely for the cons phat raised. Seattle have publicly come out and said they are rebuilding, and the last thing they want to do is take on a big contract like Mash has, especially when you consider his attitude, defensive and injuries troubles. Sublimely talented no doubt, but I would rather Seattle shied away (which I am certain they will), look to trade Rashard for some post help and try and trade up the draft board.

I am also a big believerin Vlad, it's just that he has been played out of position his entire (but very young) career. Those are just my personal thoughts, but you have to seriously wonder if the Hornets, who aren't exactly stocked at the 3, would look to get rid of the man.

Good to see another Sonics fan around :cool:

We definitely need a go-to guy down the stretch, however i'd like to look towards someone slightly younger.

Guys like Pau, Battier, Posey, Bonzi will all be reaching their peak in 3-4 years, by that time, Mash will be long gone.

A fit Mash, playing with a bunch of stiffs in Charlotte, would be an All-Star in 2004-2005.

Charlotte Bobcats:

Shawn Bradley
Austin Croshere
Mash
Stephen Jackson?? (stick with one team son)
one of the Celtics PG's

Maybe Van Exel could fill in thay PG spot? Golded State were better off with Peitrus in the line up :D

I'd ve extremely surprised if the Bobcats picked up two years worth that much money - considering they've A) Said they won't spend big money unless it's on someone they can build a team around, and B) Won't be operating under a full salary cap in their first season.
