Jamar - FF/FP?

Jamar has really suprised me in recent matches with his ability in the forward line, taking a couple of great contested marks and leading fairly well at times too.

He's taking advantage of PJ's recent injury and would have to be ahead of PJ now, which in some ways is tough on Johnson because he looked like he was coming back into form in the Swans game.

I thought Jamar was better than White yesterday, who was suprisingly quiet in a game i thought he would dominate against a youngster.

After his first shot at goal I was convinced he would spend the entire time he wasnt rucking on the bench. Credit to him for sticking to it and nailing the second one. Great pack mark as you said, YC. Not only did he mark strongly up forward, but also in our defensive 50.

He was often able to take big contested marks playing for Sandy but until now it hadn't been seen in an AFL match. It's great to see he is in form and you would think he will get a good chance to prove himself as a forward option when not in the ruck. Needs to work on his kicking though.

Not a FF, but could be a pretty handy bomb it long option. Won't get heaps of opportunities to go up there when Neita and Robbo are both playing because they are pretty much dual FFs now but I think in the future Jamar will be very, very handy. Our rucks might not be as bad as we thought with PJ to come back as well.

I'm a big Jamar fan. He is a lot better than we give him credit for, especially in the ruck. Obviously his size makes him extremely slow, but perfect to play that big, marking forward. Nobody in our side is a better contested mark, nobody.
That missed shot on goal was not common either, as usually his goal kicking is great.

How happy are you that we got rid of that hack Jolly, for pick 15, which we used for Dunn? OH YEAH! :D :thumbsu:

We have a great record of producing ruckman from nowhere. Simmonds and Jolly were both good backups for White who have moved on, and Johnson and Jamar have both shown some very good signs, they are up to AFL standard and both can have an impact resting in the forward line. Jamar has really improved his contested marking this year

he just stands there, sticks the big buckets up and says try and get this ball off me... he looks great when he's taking those contested marks... you would back him 1 on 1 more often than not... you'd almost be tempted to sit him in the goal square, have neita and robbo leading and if neither of them are on, kick it long to the big russian...

what does this good form mean for PJ? I thought that Jamar was meant to be the better ruckman and PJ the better forward but recently Jamar is looking to take over in both areas. PJ did kick 2 goals against Sydney before being injured though.

the advantage PJ still has over jamar is his mobility... while jamar took 4 contested marks on saturday he only had 5 posessions... i'd still probably rank them even has forward players, PJ leads well... and as tap ruckman jamar has him covered...

I definetely think that instead of resting the ruckmen on the bench they should be left in a forward pocket. Both White and Jamar are outstanding at taking contested marks.

Jamar and PJ could make a very good ruck combination once Whitey is gone. We never really had two good rucks since Jimmy was in his last year at the club and Whitey was in his first.
PJ - Excellent mobility, very good disposal and kick for goal, leads well and just needs to improve contested marking and ruckwork.
Jamar - Best tap ruckman at the club now, and arguably best contested mark at the club.
