Lyons is entering his 5th year on our list. Has played 23 games.
Grigg is entering his 4th year on our list. Has played 15 games.

Wright has played 81 games and been an okay contributor for us. Had a very solid year in 2012 where he played to his maximum but limited ability. Is a handy depth player at best and looks to be getting moved out of our best 22 by Walsh.

Once again - would trade all 3 of these players for Aish in a heartbeat (not that Brisbane would accept mind you).

Absolute garbage.

You would trade and sacrifice our depth of 3 middle tier players that have shown some potential for a player that while I have been singing his praises for some time has yet to stamp himself on the competition consistently.

Aish is worth our first draft pick and maybe and probably an exchange of our 2nd rounders. I am comfortable with that.

But this rubbish suggestion of trading 3 players for him is ludicrous and laughable.

You mean trade 3 players who are struggling to make our side for a kid who who has the potential to be an elite midfielder in the AFL? Absolutely.

You don't think a first rounder and an upgrade of a 2nd rounder is worth more than Grigg/Lyons/Wright?

Rubbish, your first statement was "Once again - would trade all 3 of these players for Aish in a heartbeat" referring to Lyon, Grigg and Wright. There is no way the Club would bend over and give up these three players, it is what is called paying overs.

The Art of Negotiation, I can see though I knew already is not your forte.;)

Trading 3 non best 22 players for a future gun is not overs. Especially if Wright continues on his trajectory - he could well be delisted by the end of the year.

We all have our flaws. Mine is obviously negotiation. Yours is obviously putting together a sentence that can be understood.

Your basic flaws can be summarized in that you struggle to construct a simple cogent argument in defending your posts, spending too much time reading footywire is probably the main one. Try watching games and understand the game instead of reading up about it.

Get a room guys.

Sorry the board has to read our shit fights.

Unfortunately - I blocked Grotto 2 months ago. The issue is he posts so much on every damn thread it makes it incredibly tough to follow most threads.

Then I had a read of what he has been posting only to find that he has been stalking me and responding to about 50 of my posts and specifically tagging me in a bunch of them. Enough is enough. Would happily go on a mutual ignore - if the Mods could enforce it.

Can only take so much bullshit. Once again - Grotto - put me on ignore.

Just curious Grotto. Do you deliberately avoid actually talking about what happens in a game of football? I would love if you could point me to a post which discusses anything at length. Sure you love parroting back to the board what the media say, cheeky little one liners about Port Adelaide and you love a trade hypothetical.

I just haven't seen anything in depth from you. Would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. You know something where you have a decent discussion with another poster in depth about something?

Can I just say as one of the Norwood die-hards, that the comparison to uncle Michael is a relevant one.

Everything that James has done in his career up to now reflects strongly on the traits that Michael exhibited over his career. I quoted an article earlier that had Bassett talking about James in glowing terms - and it was all about his awareness in traffic - his ability to make great decisions - his clean hands and disposal ... that rings a bell for me.

Sure he is not going to be a Dangerfield or Selwood, but I think he will develop into a Scott Pendlebury type - that seems to magically slow down everyone around him when he has the ball.

He is a possible trade, and in my opinion is going to be costly ... but worth it.

AFC would be a better squad with him in it, we do not have anyone with his attributes.

I do not think that we will trade 3 players on our fringe, but I do think it will cost us a first rounder or top 15 player.

Absolutely you would! Midfield depth is easy to find and highly overrated IMO, especially that which is slow, short, largely inside and with average skills(except perhaps Grigg on that one). You should always be looking to refresh your list, looking for the next elite talent. Midfielders who struggle to make the best 22 whilst into their 4th, 5th and even 3rd year on the list, rarely become more than bit part players. Sadly their scope for improvement is minimal, especially if they're not getting regular game time and often you're far better off cutting your losses and giving another guy a go, seeing if you can't find the next Rory Sloane, Dayne Swan, Dayne Beams or Tom Rockliff. If you're worried about depth, just rookie list the likes of Travis Tuck or Matt Panos, generally you'll find the midfielders you draft in the 1st to 3rd rounds are pretty much ready to go in their 2nd, if not their first year on the list anyway.

Thus for a player with absolute elite midfield potential such as Aish has, you'd give up Lyons, Grigg and Wright in an instant, because it has little to no detriment to your best 22. Giving up a 1st round draft pick has a massive potential to.

Ruck and Key Position depth is different and IMO our list has far too greater slant towards inside mids and 3rd tall/utility types.

If you think anyone is accepting multiple flotsam for an gun prospect, you are nuts ;)

Our second rounder will be locked out of the equation before trade week even begins. Ben Keays - academy player.

Sounds like you need another pick in the second round then. We'll do you a favour, give you our second round for Aish.

Okay, I'll just toddle back to our board then.

What type of player is he out of interest?

It would be more like our 2nd for your 3rd. Otherwise it could well be downgrading your 2nd........

Unless academy bidding happens after trade week and you then still use the downgraded 2nd rounder..... not sure how that works.

I think people are getting a little bit too excited about CEY and overrating his performances just a tad. Yes, he's been a very pleasant surprise. Suggesting that his performances in R1-3 is better than what Aish did last year is a little bit over the top.

So Aish played 3 or 4 good games in 21 last year?
CEY has played 2 good games in 3 total (arguably 3)

Id say you're being a bit hypocritical here. Getting excited over Aish, who a) isnt on our list and may not be and b) hasnt shown THAT much in 25 odd games, but we're all getting over excited over CEY?

Exactly, a draft pick is still a lottery. We've potentially got a player who will make it, there is no doubt it and posters are worried we will give up too much? Throw in the fact he's not a Victorian that we will be afraid of losing every contract renewal.

And getting an unproven Aish isnt a lottery?

How many games would he have played with the Hawks, Freo, Swans, Cats etc last year??

They know the answer to that. They just wont give it to you.
Fact is he's fringe in a bottom 4 side. You cant put him in our top 5 midfielders, so why are we selling the house to get him?
Crouch was a similar early pick and has shown much more in his short career than Aish.

ask each individual coach. how am i supposed to give you a number on that?

and as top 5 teams generally don't receive top 7 picks, it's a pretty hard comparison to make.

Its not. If he'd gone 17 to Hawthorn how many games would he have played.
The answer is 0 and you know it.

I think you better go back and watch the Brisbane games. More like he had 2 poor games and 3 or 4 ok games and the remainder were good. He possibly had 3 or 4 standout games.

OK 3 or 4 standout games out of 24
CEY has had 2 in 3.
