He was heavily concussed and he's spending the night in hospital.

They xRayed his neck for breaks and it come up clear of any break or fracture.

You'd think the next step would to have some MRI's done to check for any other problems.

In any case, I'm expecting Jimmy to miss.

yes but they are doing further tests- there could (hopefully not of course) be damage that hasn't been detected at first.
It's hard to think the poor guy is only just starting to realise where he is and what happened to him - apparantly last night he didn't even know that much.

I would not expect him to play.

He hyperextended his neck forwards, and if I heard correctly, temporarily lost feeling to his body through shock.

His neck will be severely sore throughout the week and no doubt next round, so at the risk of injurying it further, I think the best move would to rest him.

Wasn't an everyday injury and just because there weren't any breaks discovered, doesn't mean it wasn't serious.

true, i'd guess 1-3 weeks, hopefully just 1 or 2.
Necks, spines, backs, etc, need to be handled very carefully, even with minor injuries.
