He is out of contract and i think would be great value. We need a good ruckman who is mobile around the ground with good skills.
 
There is no point trading him with Hille as they are very similar. Along with that, laycock was beaten in the ruck by Ackland. The worst main ruckman in the league. Laycock is not good enough in the ruck to be a main ruckman.

gee someone with the name "David_Hilley#19" saying laycock is not good enough to be our #1 ruckman.... not being biased perhaps? :cool: laycock was voted as best on ground by the coaches so I think he did pretty well in the ruck as well as very well around the ground. hille is the worst tap ruckman in the league yet he is quite good around the ground and up forward. Laycock actually gets his hand first on the ball and palms it to our midfielders advantage he will only get better with more experience.

Agree bomberbilly. don't listen to Hamish, he's a dingbat

Laycock, along with his great palming potential basically as a 4th midfielder in the centre. He had the most clearances of any player on the ground in the weekend. A superb effeot. He's a similar breed to Cox yet has that extra ability, roving his own tap and clearing. Trade Hille for another quick midfielder or hard-nosed one, like an out-of-contract Col Sylvia;)

JUst cos i was talking about trading for col sylvia you go and claim you thought of that yourself. For once in your life make up your own opinion. All you ever do is quote this site. The only dingbat anywhere is you!

Also i can not deny, i do like hille. But to say that he is the worst tap-ruckman in the league is going a bit far. Hille is inconsistent, yes, but he also at his best is brilliant. He is our best ruckman on the list and until laycock and paddy reach his level and above hille should stay as our first ruckman.
 
Shit this all sounds familar i said this 2 months ago that Jaime Charman is a much better ruckmen than Hille, but no all u guys were saying Hille is good value and is one of the best ruckmen in the comp....Tell me guys where is he now...Oh yeah thats right he is at Bendigo where he belongs.

Am keen to get another ruckman to bolster stocks but have said before that we can put them at bendigo for couple of years to mature then rookie and draft. Dont know anything about cameron Wood, can you elaborate for those of us left in the dark.. Cheers :thumbsu:

He might belong there but is great support and has been a great servant of the club. Hopefully he can turn it around and be consistent cause we all love him..

Just remember he was captain through our darkest times and needs some respect for that at least....
 
Either way, Hille and Laycock arent really good enough to be a #1 ruckman. But we would have to trade too much to get a genuine #1 ruckman IMO. So just let it be for now and we will have to look at drafting a gun ruckman in the next couple of years.

That to me sounds like the sweet dulcet tones of you losing all credibility. Laycock was voted best on ground by both Sheedy and Rutten. He was very good, and was nowehere near beaten by Ackland. Laycock is on the verge of surpasing Hille as our number 1 ruckman.

As for the trade, I would prefer Cameron Wood. Exciting young prospect and Brissie probably dont need him after the emergence of Leunberger.

Ackland still had more hitouts than Laycock. Not a good sign when you can't get more tap outs than Hackland.

Sheeds and Rutten giving him BOG... now that was funny.

No he couldn't be BOG Kelvin said he wasn't good and he is a much, much better judge than two people who coach AFL teams:rolleyes:.

Looking at the Brisband board they seem to want a top 10 draft pick for him, or at the very least first round. A trade involving Hille for something and a draft pick which we could ontrade for Wood with is an idea.
 
Depends on the draft. If Ebert was gone by our first pick, I would not be totally against picking Bellchambers as our first pick. I know it is a risk but lets be realistic here there is a good chance this draft will be one of the worst in years. Bellchambers whilst a risk could be worth it.

Hes 25 and has at least 5+ years in him. Hes played in a Preimership and has alot of finals experice.

Where as Hille I can't seeing him getting any better then he is now and I would rather Charman in the team where he could teach the young midfield around him to get the clearances and win more of the ball. I think our midfield would improve so much with the likes of Charman as our ruck.

So what do you guys think and what would they want for him?

I'd be interested in it, have heard a rumour about hille to Bulldogs, Power and a pick to Bris and Charman to us. Charman is much more consistent than Hille and has a lot more mongrel in him.
