loved watching this guy play, hard at the footy and actually had some decent foot skills. We could use a few players like him now days. Sad the way it went for "sticky" but im sure im not the only one who enjoyed the way jamie played his footy

His pace or lack of was his main problem, but had a few good years with us. Pretty sad though.

If this says anything more than solid with a best year of 1995 then you appear to suffer acute overrateitis.

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/J/Jamie_Tape.html

However seeing as i saw at least 65 of his 75 games he played for us i don't just make my comments based on stats.

What do you mean supposed ?

I would word it a little differently than Smasha but i agree with his sentiments ... i have absolutley no doubt that if you ran a B&F from the back end of 95 to the first half of 96 then Sticky is a RFC B&F winner.

He was part of what could have been one of the more feared and hardest back lines going around had they been able to hold it together . Kellaway(D) ... M Gale ... Stopper Turner and sticky . Not to many issues were shirked ...

JT clearly had other health and rumoured personal issues that curtailed his career , i had nothing but the utmost respect for Sticky as a bloke and a footballer .

Bit harsh to say that he was just a "good ordinary player" when i think there were other influences that saw his career tail off

What, you mean having to play for Collingwood. :D

Seriously i am not saying he a bad player - just think he as a solid contributor.

Bit like Trevor Poole who won a B&F.

First and foremost without a doubt

... solid contributor is a fair call i guess . Got the best out of himself

Leave off Pooley though , gun

I was dissapointed when he went to Collingwood.

not sure of the similiarities between Trevor Poole and Tape.

Poole played his best football at Geelong anyway.

Re : Youtube highlights. Jurica was the perfect replacement for Richo that year. Kicking a goal like the one he kicked there and missing some absolute shockers.

Was watching the 95 Semi on TV the other night.
Tape was reliable and solid. Did what he had to do. :thumbsu:

Just a quick question...what was the official cause of Tape's passing?

Cheers

I used love listening to 3AW when Rex Hunt used to say "Tape...measures the the kick".

Fav player of 95 other than Stuart Maxfield

Yeh, Stewy leaving broke my heart.
I learnt a valuable lesson that day. Never love any single player more than the club.

Tape and Maxfield both great players, After seeing how well Maxfield went at swans was very sorry we got rid of him, but I believe it come down to money, swans offered (I believe) 3 times what we could afford. Tapie, however I believe got Walled as when he arrived JT form derailed. Loved both of them as players.:thumbsu:

The swans offer was more than Knights, Campbel and co. were on.
