There is absolutely zero chance this happens.

Absolute worst case is we end up folding and giving something back on top of Polec to get the first. But if he goes, we're getting the first.

Norf have to spend the money, they've been under the salary floor, otherwise they get fined.

They aren't offering this money because he's worth it. They're doing it to avoid getting fined. That's why it's massively front loaded.

I just don't seem them offering up a first as well, especially in this draft. Maybe next years.

The Taryn Thomas situation means they basically have a first pick to burn. If it isn't used on Polec they will use it somewhere else...

I'm not even that much older than Polly but i'm still stuck with these same values too and hope they still exist to some degree.

They don't actually need their first round pick this year because they are going to be taking a father-son player first. They need points for that and can amass them with later picks.

I can't see us getting compensation if he leaves under FA, as I feel we will secure the services of ruck via FA.

If I understand the rules correctly, we lose compensation accordingly

He isn’t a free agent so we wouldn’t get a compo pick anyway. It must be a trade or he sits out of AFL for a year or goes to the draft.

Ehh? This is ridiculous. So your saying North (a club desperate to secure a decent player through trade) will offer us less than their 1st so said player can go to the draft where they can then use their 1st to secure the player. Meanwhile, said player has no idea what his future holds (another club may pick him 1st) and cannot yet join the club and get settled.

So they ultimately **** over the player, so they can **** over us and also **** themselves over a bit. Is this your theory?

If he goes, we get their 1st plus steak knives. Simple
