We should go after Dom Tyson if Polec leaves

No we shouldn't. Dom Tyson doesn't fit in at Melbourne because he can only play inside midfield and they already have too many inside midfielders so he struggles for TOG and therefore struggles for impact. Sam Powell-Pepper was just dropped from our side for that exact same reason.

If we lose Polec then Aaron Hall is the bloke we should be targeting as a like-for-like replacement. Not as good as Polec but at least would go some way to replacing Polec's outside run. Will probably come cheap too.

I am of the strong opinion that Polec will get Port a top 10 pick (from North) & some later points will come back Norths way (33).

I'd rate him at a mid-late teens point value, purely based on this seasons output, the fact that Port will very likely pick up a gun local kid that will play his entire career at Port with that pick, and the overall quality of the top 10 in this draft.

i think you may be right, if you offer huge money but refuse anything other than low to average draft picks with the intention of going to the draft the AFL wouldn't take to kindly to it and may very well hit them for draft tampering as you suggested.

From what I read there seems to be Gaff, Polec then daylight to another run and carry player. Who would the other 23 players you’d go for if not Polec?

There really aren't. He has a unique skill set and North know it or they wouldn't be targeting him.

We're still rummaging in the cupboard for his right foot and if we ever find it this conversation isn't even happening .

I am glad we have a fair remuneration process at our club. Some have sacrificed to achieve st our club. For their sake, I hope we hold true and get players who pitched club above themselves, but we are fair to them.

$600K p.a. is a $100K more than Port are prepared to pay him, and the price of extracting him from his home state. It's not his list market price, it's the price to get him to move.

I even doubt $600K would make him a top 50 paid player, but considering he is a mid to late 50's rated player in the points tables, then there's a good argument that he deserves to be paid on the fringes of that group.

Yeah I’d prefer you’d took your money and waved it at Gaff. If I was his manager I’d already have called you and floated the idea of “a better Polec than Polec for just a smidge more $”. Hopefully you haven’t already blown your wad of promises...
