OK, so I know we've all talked about this a million times now BUT...

Assuming the Crows lose against Port (which I hope won't happen) then I think it is fair to say our season is over and we will be looking for a new coach next year.

SO... what do you all think about Andrew Jarman's coaching skills/potential, maybe for our next coach or maybe somewhere down the line?

For what it's worth and even though I think Gary Ayres is not the man to win us a flag, I must admit the guy has really earned my respect. He is one rock solid guy and I think is a pretty reasonable coach, just not a "star" coach. I think that what he had done with the club (up until last year) was a pretty good effort, but he just seems to be losing the players and you can see it on the field in their eyes, no matter what they (the players) say. Perhaps in the end it won't come down to his coaching ability as much as it will come down to the players needing to hear a different voice.

I actually hope I am wrong in all of this, because I'd like to see Gary succeed. I must admit after reading all the posts about his career on these boards, I am a little curious to see if things would turn the corner given a little more time to truly develop and recruit new players.

thoughts?

Shaun Rehn, Gary O'donnell;) or Darren Jarman
Darren Jarman???? I would be going full on to get O'Donnell, Plus completely revamping the entire Football Dept. We need new faces and fresh ideas and a less conservative approach from our board.

here here Fantasia and a few others need to go aswell

After listening to Terry Wallace on 5AA the other day I think its a disttinct possibility that he will be the next Adelaide Coach.

What I base this on??????

* If you think about it AFC will not be prepared to appoint a coach with no previous senior coaching experience.

Previously Wallace has said he will only go to a club that will win him a premiership. The other day he said he would want some stability so he is looking for a club that is strong financially, strong at board level and that has strong following. He said he would like to get the list like Fremantle or St. Kilda but he realises that that will not happen. He also said that he would be happy to move interstate if the right opportunity presented.

Tell me how many sides that would be looking at a coach have strong board, strong administration and strong following??????

Read into it what you like but I get the feeling Terry is eyeing off the AFC job. Time will tell.

Peter Jonas.

Rehn and A Jarman still have a lot to learn and plenty of work to do at SANFL level yet. They'd make good skills coaches or assistiants, but they're not ready for the top job yet.

Jerome, I like the way you think, Rehn and Jarman would be perfect as assistants, C McDermott for Football Operations Manager? He has had plently to gripe about the AFC and the way they are coached and recruited etc, etc. Prehaps its time he put his hand up to do a job??

I heard that interview, and the only thing Wallace didn't say was "Can I have the Crows coaching job please"

The AFC would have heard Wallace publicly throw his hat into the ring.

If Ayres goes at the end of this year, I think Wallace has an enormous chance of being the next coach. I can't see the AFC taking a chance on an unproven coach at AFL level, as they would get lynched if he proved to be a dud.

The other plus for Wallace is that he is a brilliant match day coach. Surround him with the right assistants eg not Mark Mickan, and the right recruiting staff and I'd be delighted to see him as our next coach.

He could be the next Blight or Matthews after a 2 year break from coaching while watching what does and doesn't work from his media role

We could do a lot worse.
Still think he is likely to be offered the Richmond job first.
Depends on timing as to when Adelaide announce its intention, as well as other clubs as well (Hawthorn)
Still think Ayres, if he is not at Adelaide, may be offered another coaching stint in Victoria - just a hunch

Martin..wash your mouth out!

Shaun Rehn is NOT up to coaching the Crows. This would be my worst nightmare come true.

I'm with you on this one. He 's a relatively novice coach at SANFL level and has done no apprenticeship at all at AFL level.

Love to have him as a ruck coach. From there he could work his way up to assistant coach and show whether he has what it takes at AFL level.

Would he leave Westies though to be a Ruck Coach at the AFC??????

I don't believe either A Jarman or Rehn have enough coaching experience yet to be a senior AFL coach. They would be handy assistants though. As has been mentioned, Wallace, Jonas & O'Donnell are more likely candidates. Need new assistant blood for sure at AFC.

Would you throw Mark Harvey into the mix for head coach.
Appears Sheedy is in for the long haul.

No way would I want Mark Harvey. They don't seem to rate him over highly in Victoria.

I wouldn't rate him ahead the 3 mentioned. If we are going to pinch anything from Esendon, it should be their recruiting staff.

Haven't heard any comments on Harvey, what have you heard?
