Jarred Mcveighs 250th

Just highlighted on 360 made me think that even though its been mentioned maybe its thread worthy,

250 games, captain, 2 time best and fairest, nsw boy.

Been a great career, i think we all joke about the pointing and stuff but this guy has been a warrior and a pretty good leader.

I have to admit i was surprised he was made captain, i actually thought early days he was flaky and wouldnt make much of himself, but he has done a terrific job in becoming a consistent player and swans leader.
He will all things being equal play 300 and may even be a chance for games record holder by the time he retires.

Very highly rated inside the club clearly.

Respected outside the club

Has made the most of what he has and his skills have become fantastic, kicking especially stands out. Also the way he handled one of the most difficult things a person can go through was just brilliant.

I hope we win for him, i hope he plays fantastic

We all know that when the end comes for a footballer it usually comes quickly, but I'd have to say McVeigh looks to be in tiptop shape, and from memory has had very few injuries over the years. I hope he might well sail on for a very long time.

We once said this about Goodes; but you cant go on forever as much as we would love to see it

Yeah you just never know, he looks pretty fit right now, would back him to make the 300, 350 is probably s stretch, depends where Goodes sets the mark too

But been great in recent times to see so many people play such large numbers of games, 200 and beyond. 13 in fact have played 200 or more for sydney and played a portion of those games in the year 2000 or beyond

Adam Goodes
Jude Bolton
Michael Oloughlin
Ryan Okeefe
Jarred Mcveigh
Daryn Cresswell
Brett Kirk
Leo Barry
Paul Kelly
Jared Crouch
Andrew Dunkley
Ted Richards
Stuart Maxfield

Been lucky to see so many club greats in the flesh and Mcveigh sits comfortably in there

Can be a bit maligned by Swans fans, but he is still a very important part to the team. By the end of the season he could be 5th all time on the Swans games list.

Critical player in the 2012 premiership too.

Actually, one of the reasons he is so well respected at the club is because of his ability to play with injuries & niggles yet still carrying out his role.
Looking back, he has hardly missed any games. He missed weeks in the NAB Challenge yet came back to play round one & did the job again.

Along with Kennedy & Smith, he is our most consistent performer week in week out.
Congratulations on the 250.

I don't think he has been maligned at the Swans for years based on his stats and output. He tends to be a bit maligned sometimes though because when things are not going well on the field it often looks like he is pointing and blaming others.

As a player though there are not many Swans players who use the ball better than McVeigh.

Remember his goal from the Mitchell 50 in 2012? Has a sherrin ever been kicked straighter?

That was a BIG kick, at a crucial time, and never looked like missing. Loved it :)

A fantastic achievement to jarrad

If I had to choose an AFL player to have a set shot for my life it would be him.

If I had to choose an AFL player to have a set shot for my life it would be him.

If I had to choose a Swan, it'd be him. Jay Schulz would be my guy from anywhere.

If you had have guessed in 2006, when he was running after top notch talent as they won 30 touches a game while he won about 9 a game, that McVeigh would reach the heights he has now, you'd have been a brave or crazy person.

He's become a wonderful player and there are not many Swans of any generation who will end up with as glittering a contribution to our club as he will when he retires.

AFL player, yeh he is up there.

Overall I would want my mum taking the shot.

She would do whatever it took to make it go through God bless her.

NOW GET BACK ON TOPIC - got it covered for you RW

Your mum is such a bad mark though, would never get the kick

At a time where foot skills are very deficient, he is the one shining light we have with regard to ball use.

Cool Calm and very team oriented...and I agree about that kick in 2012, very critical in turning the game back our way. He probably sits in the group that can say 'Got every single bit out of myself'

Well Done Macca, a great achievement

Well done to McVeigh. I have to admit I was a serious doubter in the early days in particular. I played against him in the junior ranks (in Sydney 18s comp)I was in the Hunter rep team and he was in Sydney Under 16s rep team. I also played for Wyong-Lakes and Killarney vale was our biggest rival (where the McVeigh boys started).

I didn't rate him as high as he was drafted and said he would become a good player but never A grade. Happy to admit I was wrong although it did take quite a time for him to get there. No way I would have predicted captaincy either. Hope he can keep going for a few years yet.

He is a credit to himself to how hard he has worked and his professionalism throughout.

Congrats on 250 and hopefully to and beyond 300!

Congratulations to Macca

Has been a strong leader and has helped drive the culture of our club

For a while there he looked like he'd never quite reach his potential but really stepped up to be a solid contributor.

Well done on 250

Something tells me he's going to have a sublime game

Its all good, but as a leader, I don't think he's in the Kelly, Maxfield or Kirk mould and they were strong, but your head over the ball types. But well done, to play 1 game of AFL is great, but 250 when your first 80 were shite is a great effort

Congratualtions on a significant milestone. Jarrad is getting better with age, make no mistake, he is one of the most important players in our side.

I know he cops a bit on here for the finger pointing but he is probably the prime organiser on the field and as such (as well as captain) is always going to be having his say, and say it with passion.

Love the fact that he's a local boy too. Hope he and we have a good game tonight, well done Jarrad.
