Jarrod Dalton: The VFL's best full back, as effective dashing down the ground as he is spoiling on the last line. VFL team of the year 2010, 2011. 193cm mature aged KPD.
'Apparently' he's been told we will select him.

Where did you hear this from.

Being Told and then Being Selected is 2 different things

Not with collingwood it isn't

If that has been said, unless drafted by others he'll be selected by us.

Dashing full back, hmm I suppose depth will help. Personally though I'm more concerned up the other end

Well he Said Appartenly which leaves a lot to wonder about.

IF we did draft Dalton we would be thinking of sending Tarrant Forward?

I said 'apparently' because I didn't hear it from the club myself. Therefore it may or may not be true. I wouldn't come out and say 'definitely' unless I was a Collingwood recruitment employee. Just something to keep an eye on. Personally I agree, it's not an area of weakness although Taz ain't young. But I also believe he has been looked at by other clubs and as he has been VFL team of the year 2 years running, you'd think he would be well known to all AFL recruiters worth their salt.

Not Saying you are Lying at all and We could very well be looking at Bringing Him in.

As you say Though a Name to look out on Draft Night

If it even helped the VFL side that's no small beer if we want to go deeper and have more match fit players to select for the senior team around finals.

Would be very handy if we lost Dawes and Brown, for example, to injury. Could push Taz forward and him into defence. Would be better than a Keeffe being pushed forward if he's not fit enough.

And just on that I just got back from dinner with Maxy and a few of his bloggers and he said that Keeffe and Wood are both recovering from injury / surgery to hips and shoulder respectively so they may not go to Arizona. Then again, neither would Dalton.

Maybe a full time move for shaw to the wing.. or Harry O playing further up could be the reason were going after a ready made dashing defender. No way in hell we'll move taz in what could be his last season , he was terrible when he was up foward not up to it anymore and super rusty, and him going in the midfield is laughable. His got FB game set match unless he gets injured/rested

He kicked at 55% in 2003 with 2.2 goals per game (54) and 57% in 2005 with 2.1 goals per game (36) and this was before he got his head straight.

How can you say he's not up to it when he hasn't played forward since 2006? He might not be but he's certainly not rusty or he wouldn't be such an awesome key defender.

If Dawes or Cloke went down, who would you say would be the next best tall option with no Leroy?

While I don't see KPD as a need I think if we were to go down the mature age option it does two things.

1) Gives a young VFL team some experience and stability in a critical area of the ground.
2) Gives us the depth to create positional flexibility with both Tarrant and Reid if required to move them forward.

That scenario would be in the event of injuries but it would be a more than handy optionto have at your disposal.

He would be a rusty forward.. not a rusty player, as you say hasnt played/trained as a forward really for 5-6 years. The next best tall option - Witts (keefe if he improves over the offseason) or we change our structure to 1 tall forward. Jolly would also be a big option.

Tarrent is critical down back and too old now to start moving him all over the place for nathan brown and this new guy is absolute madness as many people are suggesting. Brown will be lucky to make the best 22, if he does make it he wont be taking Taz's spot.

Why would u assume i meant rusty player?

Insurance for Reid or Brown in case one ends up at GWS? I know that GWS are making a massive play for the Reid brothers (although am I right in saying that Sam Reid re-signed with the Swans?) and Brown.

Maybe Taz has told Bucks that he thinks he only has one more year left.

A one tall fwd line? If Jolly went there, that would require Wood rucking most of the time or the two alternating which is a crap substitute for a genuine 2nd tall forward.

Brown lucky to be in best 22. Okay.

Tarrant could move down there easily and would be the best back-up option. The A plan is Dawes and Cloke, but Tarrant would be best foil / option if one of those was injured in my opinion.

Hmm, I’d be surprised if we picked up the bloke due to both his age (25) and that I can’t find room in the team for Nathan Brown as it is, and then we also have Keefe blossoming as a tall key position defender who would be asking for more game time next year. But I guess they’re looking much further into the future post Tarrant’s eventual retirement, and looking to have more than 1 readymade backup defender (unless they don’t think Keefe will ever make it). I’d rather be searching for very young and developing key forwards in case Dawes or Cloke ever went down with injury but maybe they just don’t think there are any in this draft and therefore are looking at the next greatest requirement.

Thanks for sharing the info though

Also N Brown has 2 Knee Injuries last season

Ok if he is still with Box Hill Hawks isn't their affiliated side looking for a dashing backman? Why wouldn’t they have looked at him?

He is not at Box Hill - He Plays for Port Melbourne
