From a friend of the family & TAC Cup parent, the real story.

It appears that David demanded that it was a "one in all in" decision. Jason was a punt & a real toss of the coin as a 2nd round pick.

The next one is Cameron, recently drafted by the Pies & "apparently" no good whatsoever,6'8 & next door to hopeless, note he was dropped by Eastern this week.

The prize of the litter is reported to be Travis, the youngest.Calcuated risk by Collingwood, expected to go top 5 in his year so a bargain as a 2nd round choice.

Richmond reportedly were not willing to wait around, the logic being a lot can happen in 3 yrs.
Also no guarentees that the father-son rules wont have changed yet again by then.

And if you think this doesn't go on,where do you think Cameron Croad will end up.No prizes for guessing.

Seth.

It appeared to make sense to me .... I think! :D

Here is the real reason why we wont be getting any of the Cloke brothers at Richmond .
SIMPLY PUT.
It's their mothers fault she hates richmond .
Her brother is former umpire Peter Cameron he did'nt cut it at richmond & she will forever not like the R.F.C because of that.

If Richmond wanted him they could have had him. Pops couldn't have done anything about it. How could a bloody parent possibly tinker with the draft?

We will forever debate whether we should have taken Cloke or Coughlan. The real tragedy is that we could have taken Cloke AND Coughlan- and never taken that dud Pettifer!

What really ****es me off is that we gave them McKee in exchange for Clinton King!!

Nothing cryptic about any of it,if you can't understand english then you're going to struggle here.

As for parents & the draft, why is it unreasonable to think pre-draft deals are done? They're done everywhere else.
Father & son rule is continually changed, why do you think that is?
Because of parents trying to influence the system.

Personally I'll take Coughlan,he's a ripper.Only time will tell about the fate of the other Clokes. But this is what happened.

And if Cameron Croad goes to Fremantle, ask yourself when that deal was forged.Think it may have been late last year.
Time will tell.

Cameron Croad was overlooked last year, and won't be an automatic selection this year. So far, despite what Kevin Sheehan may have said, he's shown none of the promise that Trent Croad showed at U18 level.

I've no idea what Sheehan said but time will tell, when the draft is over one of us will be right,I guess 'til then we'll agree to disagree.

So if Richmond had drafted Cloke, but refused to guarantee drafting the other brothers, what would have happened exactly? Are you saying he (Jason) would have sat out of football? You still haven't explained what a parent can do to force clubs into these mysterious 'deals'. Methinks you've been listening to too many crackpot conspiracy theorists!

The bottom line is he couldn't be drafted without him signing a contract, something he wouldn't & didn't do without the guarentee that all 3 Clokes would be at Tigerland.

Collingwood gave that guarentee.Problem solved.
To say Richmond could have had him is only partly true, you're hardly going to draft a kid with a 2nd round pick if you know he wont play for you.

David knew Collingwood were keen so the possibility of him standing out was never going to happen.

No theories here, only facts.Believe what you want to believe.

The real story is that the Tiges did not want to sacrifice their second round draft choice on a player who they did not rate highly enough to sarifice the choice for (Frawley is on record as saying that the club made a mistake) especially as they thought they had enough talls.

As for Cameron Cloke being no good, have a look at the second half of the TAC grand final..............

I think the real reason is that David has a grudge on the club about something, and apperently only turns up to only the reunions Tommy Hafey organises, but nothing else run by the club itself.

Who relly knows, but I think that the club will rue the day that they let the Clokes go.

I saw it,was it a co-incidence that he wasn't even on the ground in the first half?
Went fair in the 2nd half when everyone was exhausted.

Not even the best ruckman at Eastern & Collingwood are forced to take him 2nd round, how would we explain this?
Oh yeh,already have.

Just one point - Father / Son is only 3rd round pick this year.

While I agree Cam Cloke looks like a risk, in a thin draft giving up a 3rd round pick he is probably worth it.
