Just wondering what's the go with this kid? It seem to put a few noses out of joint when we got him under the father son rule, but so far i've heard very little about the kid!

Your thoughts.......

People who were cool on him seemed to focus on dodgy kicking. However not hearing that too much now. Finished VFL year in good form & was in the best regularly towards end of year. Named emergency for firsts a few times so he was close. That has to be a pass mark in year one. All signs look good to me, lets hope he can improve again.

BTW we got him for our last pick as no one bid on him so he was a cheap get, success would be gravy really.

He has the weapons that could really improve our side. His pace and endurance are key features of his game. From what I have seen of his kicking it is at least average. And he is harder at the ball than many give him credit for.

Would be good to see him on a wing at some point, using his speed to run the lines, especially in our "new' game plan. I expect him to get senior games this year.

The kicking is the on going question mark. His first couple of VFL games in general he looked totally and utterly lost. He improved at a really rapid rate which is a promising sign. As has been said he has blistering pace and endurance. Likes to take the game on and is naturally an outside player, however when it is his turn to go he throws himself in with wreckless abandon. His one of those guys who watching him you really want to make it. His generally busy and enthusastic and seems to give it everything his got.

Seems to have been almost forgotten with the new intake of midfielders. Whilst we need inside extractors we also need an outside winger with pace. Given his attack on the ball and bigger body from last year he may be an outside chance in a back pocket on the small forward also.

Be good to see Barham get his chance in the NAB Cup.

Apparently this morning on sen Kb and Greg Denham were discussing a kid called ??? jack who has big wraps on him by the saints.
However when Kb asked for listeners to ring to give a report on jack.
A few rang in and gave him and Jaxson Barham great wraps.
A couple of people said that the last premiership by the geelong falcons was attributed to only those two players, between the both of them they helped win the premiership for their club....So Barham can't be that bad.

Jack Steven would be the kid.

Don't know what they were talking about attributing the last Falcons premiership to them since neither of them played in it due to only being 12 at the time.

I realize that's a highlight clip but very encouraging. Would love to see that stuff in the ones.
He was vey enjoyable to watch in the VFL, seemed miles faster then everyone and for a kid so small flew in with his head every time he needed too (i really thought he would hurt hmself a few times)

Look forward to his debut

I think after watching that clip the one thing I noticed the most is he has changed his kicking action since the start of the year. He had a pretty high ball drop so the ball sat in the air a bit more. Looks much better now getting it in flatter. Love it how he also gets in there and lays a tackle and runs them down as well. Good luck to the kid. I hope he gets a chance to crack into the senior side.

I saw a little of him in the VFL last year, and I was quite impressed. His short kicking looked pretty good to me, quite clever. Not so sure what his long kicking is like. Plays with a lot of energy, really willing tackler. I've predicted him to have a breakout season this year, though in the couple of 18-a-side training drills I've seen at the Paddock, he looked a little lost and uninvolved tbh.

On what I've seen he was well worth a late pick in a weak draft.

Since early 2000s our best has been high-pressure footy.

By that, I mean tackle count, 1pcers ticking over swiftly. Seems to have attributes to fit that role. If you've got the ball and he's hovering around ... you get the drift, could win him plenty of praise.

What we saw of him in his first year at VFL level was very impressive.

Last year was always going to be a development year for him, but with luck with injuries and natural progression, I can see him playing between 5-10 games this year, and then becoming a permanent senior player in 2010.

It's players like Barham and McCarthy that are part of the reason why most Collingwood supporters arent too worried about our midfield for the future, especially when you add this years draftees and rookies into the mix.

Barham has what we crave, speed, class and that ability to break the lines and just explode a game apart.

Can't wait till his senior debut, and who knows, he might come in on ANZAC day, as both sides have a tendancy to debut players in that game.

They were actually talking about when the 2 boys played for their local club. Both played as 16 year olds in the Seniors Premiership side. Not only that, but they were BOG by a mile.
Doesn't mean shit today though, unfortunately.

After seeing his highlight reel i look forward to seeing Jaxon make his debut. He looks like he's got the pace we so desperately crave for the midfield and am hoping next year will be his year to cement a spot in the seniors. And another year in the gym won't hurt!
