Reasonable Doubt is ****in epic.

Jay Z, like Nas, started off with a bang, sort of lost his way for a short while there, then came back and solidified his status as a hiphop great.

Both have contributed differently to hiphop, but theyre epic to the genre regardless.

I prefer Nas, but I can't deny I like a lot of jay's tracks.

Thanks to whoever reccomended Jaydiohead, I'm absolutely loving it, and I normally don't give a stuff about hip hop.

Also love D.O.A., good premise for a song as well.

Despite my usual dismissal of rap, and especially my dislike of the big-noting re gangster stuff, I've found myself getting into some of Jay-Z's stuff of late. The guitar riff and saxophone? of DOA is just that damn catchy, really good little riffs, despite the lyrical content being slightly average. Likewise Roc Boys, and even enjoyed Brooklyn We Go Hard. Obviously havent heard much stuff and given it is rap, there is probably alot of shit i dislike, but some decent songs are there.

Bomber Bears, the little stuff you've heard of Jay is among the more formulaic of what he has released. Get into Reasonable Doubt and the Blueprint.

One of my favourite live albums of all times, great guest performances and really shows Jay-Z at his finest.

The Jaguar Wright performance on his unplugged album gives me chills every single time. Magnificent

If you're a fan of live albums, go grab the Home Grown guide to the roots, both volumes, have great live performances of some of their best tracks. The 15+minute long track combining the Web, Seed and Melting Pots is one of my favourite tracks of all time.

Yeh great album, the best mashup version of that I've heard is Mick Boogie's combining marvin gaye tracks with American gangster tracks

Probably my two favourite Jay-Z songs are D'evils and Threat. Stirpped down (but still great) beats that just let Jay go crazy over them.

BP3 needs more Premo and 9th Wonder and less Swizz Beats. On To The Next One (possibly the most apt song title in history) makes me want to tear my ears off. Hate isn't much better. I wish Kanye West would just fall off the face of the earth.

Really loving the Empire State of Mind track but it's almost 100% because of the brilliant chorus from Alicia Keys.

As usual Jay Z's rapping sounds off-kilter to me. Prefer my rappers to actually rhyme and keep in time with the beat.
