Just a reminder of his AFL stats (and yes, I've removed all sub games, so don't try that excuse again):

9.7 disposals
3.2 tackles
0.7 goals
0 (yes, zero) goal assists

And a reminder of his AFL stats in games that weren't dead rubbers against bottom 6 teams:

8.8 disposals
3.2 tackles
0.2 goals
0 goal assists

Wanting this guy out of the AFL side and off of our list is not a 'bizarre vendetta'. The only 'bizarre' thing is why he's still here.

So your starting point for 'the dozen guys on our list' who are worse than McEntee is to name a bunch of guys who aren't on our list? Not off to a great start here m8.

There will be just as many spuds delisted next year, we just haven't played that season yet. Come back in 12 months and all of the guys delisted then will be just as spuddy as McEntee.

I'd just love to know what metric saw him picked over literally anyone else. Same with Brynn Teakle, though he was alright in his games before injury he was plonked on the list and immediately selected over others.

There is definitely some weird hinkley metric at play. I'll leave it to this board to work out what it is.

Teakle was easy - they wanted a ruckman with a tank ready to go because they had given up on Hayes and Visentini wasn't ready.

McEntee - is part of Ken's fetish for fast little blokes in the forward line, skills are not necessary.

Now you've done all those calcs you need to correct to full game equivalents.
Its no good quoting those numbers if he only averages a third of the game on the field.

I said in literally the first sentence of the post that I'd removed the sub games. Did you actually read the post before you quoted it to respond with this horseshit?

I know it's hard to believe looking at those numbers, because they certainly look like the numbers somebody might put up if they were averaging a quarter or two worth of gametime, but no, those are the numbers our man Jed produces over a full game of AFL football.

People out here gaslighting themselves about his output.

'He couldn't have been that putrid'

Narrator: he was that putrid.

Jed's obviously no superstar but he has improved quiet a bit and clearly if he was as bad as some of those going through menopause make him out to be then he wouldn't be on the list anymore.

lol it's so funny seeing people defend his output, imagine if say, Pittard put out his numbers.

On second thoughts, there is always a little group that defend regardless of the obvious failings that don't pass the eye test.

Like how we played Jake Neade 66 times at AFL level and then once we finally delisted him it turned out he wasn't even good enough to get consistent games at senior SANFL level?

Newsflash, the only reason he's still on our list is because the least successful coach in AFL history thinks he's a good player. His continued presence on our list says more about Ken Hinkley's coaching ability than it does about Jed McEntee's playing ability.

Every club has a fetish for fast little blokes in the forward line. The only difference is that ours don't kick many goals because of our ultra forward press, kick it to Charlie, 15,637 bodies in the forward line game plan.

Are you implying that it's Ken's game plan that has held Jed back from kicking an acceptable amount of goals. If so, his highest ever tally at SANFL level is 6. That's 6 for a season, not for a game.

Defending his selection seems really odd. We had better options. He's not the 1st Donut's pet to get an extended run, we've all seen it numerous times. This is as obvious as ever.

Who were the better options?

You don't think he improved at all last season?

Maybe next season Francis Evans will be a better option.

I already posted Taj Schofield's stat compared to Jed's and Taj is younger.

Williams would have been a better option.

Trent Dumont is twice the player Jed is. That's 3 without going back and looking at SANFL form.

He may have improved but not to AFL standard.

Taj got delisted and no other club picked him up so don't know how he would've been better.

Williams a pressure forward? Don't think so.

Dumont was playing until he got injured.

Jed's still on the list because we don't have much in the small forward department. If Fantasia and Rioli both stay fit in 2023, he won't get games. If we have an inkling that we can pick up another quality small forward or two after next season, he's gone. I'm sure he's a lovely guy, but he's a very limited player.

Teakle got the nod because we had no one else. Teakle looked OK against the Swans until he was injured and missed several weeks, I suspect if Bryn had not been injured he might have played the season out. I like Teakle's attack on the ball although that is what got him injured. I do not understand why we hang onto McEntee in a year when we have recruited Junior Rioli and Francis Evans and have Orazio Fantasia returning from injury. McEntee has not shown anything that warrants his retention on our list let alone his selection at AFL level. About the only thing I can think of is that Ken and co see McEntee as insurance if Fantasia goes down yet again.

Taj got delisted because Donut's had an issue with his dad. He was better than Jed in every way. Sure he didn't get picked up but neither would Jed.

I must have missed the bit where Jed was so great at pressure. Williams has much more upside than Jed. He needs to work on his tank, sure, but he's still a better option.

Dumont was back in the SANFL in round 16. He easily could have replaced Jed.

My preference would have been to play Hayes, then Finlayson would be the extra forward. There were different options positionally than play a guy that provided **** all.
