Speculation Jed Walter

If Essendon think Darcy Fogarty Mk II is going to solve their issues they are cooked

would GCS be too worried if he left?

They will absolutely fleece Hawthorn or Melbourne for a bloke averaging 13 touches a game.

Humphrey i suspect is on a very team friendly wage (as he signed early in the year) which is likely why he wants out because he knows he can get a lot more money in Melbourne not 'family reasons'. But this is also why gc likely won't want to trade him as it will cost them more wage than he's on to get the same standard player to replace him. So I doubt he's going anywhere. Walter is a different scenario.

Apparently, Jed stays if he plays.

Right now is more Ben is going.

Surely Jed gets dropped? JUH with 4 goals 4 in the VFL and Jed just not getting enough of the ball. He and King are a bad fit. You need a guy who can also create scores for others which is the diffrence that JUH and Walter provide. JUH is much more likely to make a 40m lead to the wing to take a chest mark, turn around and hit a leading forward. Something that is needed in the current lineup.

I think you'd be better off King leaving to be honest. King just does nothing outside put the hands up around the forward 50 and slot goals. It's almost detrimental to the team. If you could keep JUH on the straight and narrow, Walters, Read and JUH is so much more dynamic

I am with you on this.

I would keep Walter over King

JUH Walter and Reid is a more workable foward line
GC would also get a better cap relief as well
Interesting, seeing that King has the runs on the board while Walter is struggling to get a consistent game.
To be honest with you, I think Walter has a huge upside. I'm just wondering if he has the drive, because he has talent and athleticism.

That must be his partner if true because Ben wants to stay and he would be mad to leave success wise (although if he can get to hawthorn i suppose there's good success prospects there). This could be a dangerfield partner type scenario though so maybe he will go.
The trouble for gc is they need to sign Walter now but it's hard to do unless they know king is going.

North would be crazy not to go after both Walter & King

Offer King big money he cant refuse and Same for Walter and try to get both but if they get 1 fine
North have to have their StKilda moment with these 2 boys

this feels like a coaching directive though

if hardwick wanted king to get involved up the ground more im sure he has the tools to. instead hes basically been told to imagine he has a tether to the goalsquare thats 45m long.

id want to keep the proven commodity over mr potential every day of the week here. especially if the offers being fielded need to be matched to keep him (think somewhere reported walter is being offered $1m/yr from some essendon or norf organisation).

Gold Coast offer Jed Walters monster deal to remain a Sun as Ben Kings cools his jets

Gold Coast has made rising star Jed Walters a monster deal to remain a Sun, while key forward Ben King has gone cold on re-signing with an interest in returning home to Melbourne.

Gold Coast has offered young emerging star Jed Walter a monster five-year deal worth over $5 million as Ben King gets cold feet on signing a new two-season deal at the Suns.
The Suns have in recent days handed Walter an upgraded long-term contract as clubs including Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and Adelaide show strong interest.
Essendon met Walter on the day of Brad Scott’s sacking, but Collingwood is also coming extremely hard and might be prepared to offer as much as $1.1 million a season.
The Suns have always believed that if the Gold Coast academy prospect stayed in their senior AFL side after 30 games in his first two seasons he would re-sign this year.
They had offered him a deal worth more than $700,000 given their belief in his upside.
But the extraordinary interest in the No. 3 overall draft pick means the Suns have had to up their deal in recent days.

The Pies do have their first-rounder this year and next year and believe Walter is considering their overtures.
