Fantastic footballer. Great natural ability, charisma, and the type of player that steps up when you need him to. His three goals tonight against quality opposition were classy, sensational Bronlow winning events, and his response to the crowd was just honest, giving stuff - the stuff legends are made of.

The guy is a genius and the most under-rated star in the league.

Thankyou, finally someone notices him as much as us.

Just quickly anyone know the reason for the armband tonight? He was the only guy with one. I would say it is an anniversary of one of the tragic deaths in his family last year. Nice touch when he kissed it and than looked t the skies after kicking a beauty.

Actually, what I saw was a guy who should have kicked 6/7 goals. Dropped marks all over the place, especially when trying to take high chest marks instead of hands out in front of his face.

Farmer loves to showboat. Would be twice the player if he concentrated on the footy rather than crowd antics.

Just a serious question here:

Do Jeff Farmer's antics on the ground worry any Freo supporters at all ?

From what I've seen of him, he always seems to act like a "show pony" and a trouble maker.

Do you think it helps him ? Or gives him unwarranted attention.

(PS - I think the umpires hate him LOL)

He isn't acting like a show pony not last night anyway. All of his "celebrations" last night were tributes to someone. The kissing of the armband, raising his arms and looking to the sky its all common place for Jeff and it isnt arrogance as much as it may look like it to people that dont no.

We put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5. I was annoyed by the arms to the heavens thing as well as it looked like he was proclaiming himself as god or something. One Carlton player actually tried to pull his arm down when he walked past doing that so I guess they though it was arrogance too. I saw him kiss the armband and realised the significance of that, yet for some reason I didn't tie in the rest with that. We all see what we want to see I guess and Farmer is someone opposition supporters love to hate.

Curiously, when a decision didn't go his way, he also appealed to the heavens. Was he asking for divine intervention from a deceased relative? Just seemed a bit strange, thanking the heavens when something went right and being critical of the heavens if it didn't go right.

I'm prepared to let last night go for Jeffrey, it is probably fair to say his mind was not quite in the same place as everybody else at the time.

I have to say that bit confused me aswell, but the rest is quite easily explained.

Very true. Was going the boat way too much last night.

However, he did put terrific pressure on the Carlton defence, caused quite a few turnovers.

It is my belief (and that of many other Freo people I dare say), that Jeffrey is way misunderstood. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't in many instances.

His forward defensive pressure is second to none at Freo; and equal to anyone in the league. His rundown of Fevola in the first few minutes of the game, and of someone else in the centre later in the game, is something he does regularly - I would go as far as to say that he gets one almost every single game. But that's almost the only frees he gets paid - when the umpires can't not pay it.

He can get pushed in the back, held, tackled high... whatever - and it's always "play on". He touches someone with his little finger and it's "free against". The umpires (and opposition supporters) hate him and it becomes a vicious cycle. He complains when he gets his head ripped off and doesn't get the free, they (and opposition supporters) hate him more. He argues when he tackles a bloke with the ball and they say "holding" and they (and opposition supporters) hate him more. He keeps his mouth shut and looks to the heavens, and they (and opposition supporters) hate him more. He keeps his mouth clenched shut and gets that dark look on his face as he's trying to not give away 50, they (and opposition supporters) hate him more.

He's a matchwinner and an inspiration. Even when he's not kicking goals, he's setting them up, and working so hard defensively to keep the ball in the forward 50. He chases, tackles, and runs, runs, runs creating opportunities for himself and the other forwards - and he kicks some spectacular goals to add to the excitement. The whole crowd lifts when Jeffrey is near the ball because you know he'll give it 250% every time.

It's been awhile since he's celebrated looking to the heavens (2004 in fact when he lost 2 or 3 family members in a short space of time) - you'd have to assume he's had another death in the family and that was what it was all about.

As much as SclomoW.anksten was being a sarcastic prick with his comments, the great irony is that everything he said was absolutley true. :thumbsu:

Had me shaking my head a bit, but the pressure he applies around the ground makes up for it. 'The Wiz' suites him perfectly.

At the end of last year he was carrying a spare tyre. This year he is lean, quick, looking sharp and heading your way next week.

Bitter prick.

Get your team to perform when it matters.

Well indicative of yr response, we will, next time you play in Melbuorne. Get prepared for a hiding, coz you guys were handed a charity victory last night. For a team with a list like yrs and the other handouts you get, you got nothing to be proud of - a team of under-performing show pony ********ers.

And I'll wager we'll win a flag before you lot.

Geez they must be some sour grapes you're sucking on.

7 in a row and counting.

Must sting like hell to be the bitches of "a team of under performing show pony ********ers".

:D

I dont know exactley but I think the arm band may have been for my uncle who died early saturday morning. He was a farmer from Tambellup who has had a big influence on Jeffs fathers life and subsequently Jeffs as well. Jeff is a match winner and if he only gets 2 kicks its what he does with those 2 kicks that should be looked at. The Wally Foreman gives me the S**** how he slags at his style and game influence. Take Jeff for what he is a game breaker and a brilliant one at that.
