Would have thought Freo's first pick around 10-12 and would be surprised if impartial observers throught that around the mark.WTF are you guys smoking. his value is extremely under-rated. would take fremantles first pick

Pick 10 to 12 could get us one of the big mids we're looking to select in this draft. That's one area we're lacking with Carlton well served for inside and outside players in Lucas, Garlett, Yarran, Gibbs, Lucas, Bootsma, Collins, Armfield, Walker and Buckley. The Blues need another Robinson or two.Surely the Blues would only entertain trading him if it were part of picking up a key forward. No point taking a draft pick (even if it's 10-12) because you're not going to get the top-level improvement you need right at the moment.

I'm not trying to troll here, but it seems like you guys have got massive list management issues and haven't really learnt from past mistakes. Specifically, knowing that it takes longer for different types of players to develop and not really drafting long-term developing players at the right times. Drafting for need at 10-12 for a big midfielder probably won't help you in the next three years. By the time that player is playing at the level you'd want (to be best 22 in a top 4 side) you'll have lost Scotland, and the likes of Judd and Carrazzo will be on their last legs. You should be looking to recruit somebody like Koby Stevens. Please don't though!
???
So we shouldn't draft young mids because some of our mids are ageing? Maybe we should give away our first pick for an established inside mid...that worked out well for us last time around.
For list balance Carlton will need to bring some young ball winners into the fold this year. Plenty examples of young AFL ready mids coming through in recent years...guys like Greene, Parker, Caddy, Shuey (post injury). We need more depth through the middle, not walk up top shelf talent.
Trading Garlett for 10-12 to pick up a young midfielder won't help you.
So basically given up on some success in the next few years? Back to rebuilding?
That would be pretty fair and a win win for both parties I think.1st round + Mitch Brown/Koby Stevens for 2nd round + Garlett?
