It'll be good for Kennet to have something to do again.

This little hobby may prevent him from writing any more poetry books about dogs!

Thank god he wasn't a Collingwood supporter.

he was a premier once. and nearly a pm. oh what joy we have his boundless energy and intelligence once again.

So what if he writes crappy books.

I'm looking to the future.

He'll be great for Hawthorn. When he speaks people listen, so he will have significant influence.

Pity he isn't still Premier, maybe then our state wouldn't be in the disgraceful mess it's in now.

Hawthorn aren't a financial powerhouse. As stated by Scott, their Profit/Loss statements in the last few years have been largely distorted by the Waverley payout. As soon as that dripfeed stopped, they are back to posting losses.

There are about 3 financial powerhouses in Victoria & that's it.
hahaha it's amazing how truly gullible people continue to be in this day and age. There was a reason Don Scott had to pull the pin on his campaign - he was speaking through his arse.

As for Jeffrey Kennett - the great man cometh.

State was literally ********ed before Kennett as Labor were handing out too many lolli-pops and didnt care much for the bill.

YES Jeff did some silly things and some things I dont agree with, but he also did a lot of good... and I mean a LOT. He put us back on the map and chopped billions in debt we had acrued.

Hawks youre a lucky bunch with him at the head of the table.

He reduced our debt by selling income-producing utilities. Yep, he balanced the books, but artificially and at what cost?

Among his achievements were the aforementioned emphasis on tourism, though this added nothing to real jobs or to expansion of a manufacturing sector. IMHO, his efforts in closing Pentridge and in finally building the City Link are outstanding accomplishments.

BTW, his experience in dealing with depressive people will surely come in handy at Hawthorn. :)

The govt had no say in it when it was publicly owned, it was run by the unions just like the trams were.

Why do you propogate these stupid myths

You'll find poorer people and less educated people voted him out because all they could see was him closing things down and selling off government run business to private enterprise etc. Some people think it's ok for the government to provide everything regardless of the strain that puts on the economy.

Rubbish. Are you claiming the majority of Victorians are poor and not educated? Because a majority of Victorians did vote him out.

Anyway Jeff can hardly blame the lack of education for his electoral defeat after the number of schools he closed.

I think Jeff Kennet, politics aside, will be a great President. He is prepared to make decisions and then follow them through regardless of any fallout. He is also a long term thinker. He will already have a goal in mind and will be developing plans to achieve it. If only every club president had the Go Nads of this lad. Eddie will try hard to form an alliance, because that's what eddie does. Where there is power so to is Eddie.
I just need clarrification on one small issue, how was it that Hawthorn took over the ownership of Waverley Park?

The site was turned into a housing development as the land was bought by Mirvac.

The ground was heritage listed so they couldnt knock it down, so thats when Hawthorn got involved.

Mirvac has entered a 15 year sponsorship with the club, after either this or when they sell the last house, then Hawthorn will own it for good, until then they are leasing it for $1.00 a year, btw its in the contract that they have to give the club the ground after either one of these instances, they cant evict them!!!!

Well done, Hawks ... I have real admiration for you guys now. Jeff Kennett is a legend.

he's riding the waves of Keatings fantastic economic reform...

Bwahaha. Never fails to produce hilarity when you see someone claiming Keating knew what he was doing. Either as PM or Treasurer. He was an absolute disaster for Australia.

I thought that this was a footy forum .. too much politics.

Kennett will be good, at least the media will spend time concentrating on another president rather than Eddie
