Although I doubt Sydney would go after him now Chambers has been traded, what would you offer Melbourne if it did come up?

Jason Saddington & Pick 19?

IF Jon Hay is worth two first rounders we wouldn't consider anything less than Buchanan or Ablett + first pick

Which one has been All Australian?
Which one has never been the number 1 ruckman for a side?
Yes good call indeed.

Which one took the first bounce in the 2005 Grand Final?
I think everyone would agree that White has had a much better career than Jolly so far but you can't blame us for getting excited over him.He may not be the best ruckman in the comp but if we didn't have him this year we wouldn't have won the GF.
I think Jolly had a better year as a tap ruckman as the new circle curtailed White's effectiveness.

jolly works harder around the ground than white as well

Mmme, nope. Jolly will have vanished in a few years, mark my words. He is a little soft and proned to laziness. A change of club has fired him up, wait and see if he keeps going next year. White is a match winner. Had a slow start to the year but really did make a move towards the end of the year. Even took a dive that helped us make the finals. Experience and talent always wins over good hard work.

I imagine Jolly wouldn't want White to come to your club. He'd be back where he started.

even if he fades in a few years jolly will always one more premeirship than white, unless white leaves the dees. Danihers reluctance to ever take white out of the ruck kills off any young ruckman at melbourne. Jolly has been tremendous and it seems like you hope he fails, more than you have any facts to suggest he will!

Jolly has obviously improved since he left Melbourne, and credit to him, but I dont think his premiership medallion makes him a better player, at all. Plenty of great players have not won a flag, plenty of middle of the road players have.

Agreed, is Schneider a better player than Harvey just because he won a Premiership?

good point, i take it back.

I think white is a great ruckman. However it is silly to suggest that jolly is a fluke and will fade, i think he is a good ruckman in his own right and was under utilised at the demons

at the trade table:

Sydney will consider White's age so wont offer a deal that reflects his ability and importance to Melbourne

Melbourne will consider Whites importance and ability and will expect a deal as if he is a 20 year old.

if afl players were ageless, you would expect a fair bit in return for the Number 3 ruckman in the comp wouldn't you?

Pick 18 and Buchanan would be looked at and for the future, would be of value but would be very detrimental next year.

i cant see u guys letting white go, he must be in your top 5 players still?

Lets presume they decided to trade white to sydney i think it would probably take an okeefe or jude bolton with a pick. What about saddington and schnieder? :P

In 2006 the flag will be ours...

Melbourne would be lunatics to consider getting rid of white. I think he is a better ruckman than Jolly, but in the modern game very few ruckmen are able to ruck for most of the game and still be effective. Anything that we would have been able to offer Melbourne to get White, wouldn't have been worth it for us IMO.

You'll find that Jolly was very well liked by the majority of Melbourne fans and the general feeling was that we didn't want to let him go because we knew what he's capable of if given the right opportunities. Most demon fans I know were really happy for him that he got his chance to shine away from the White shadow and now has a premierhip medallion to his name, that's how well liked and respected he is with us.
