I went to school with Andrew McGovern. Was always a solid player and was a great contributor at Claremont. He also spent time at Sydney and then the Dockers. Great to see his son following in his footsteps. :thumbsu:

SSHS? as I also went to high school with Andrew.

If he's as tough as his old man and can play with the steely resolve that he did he has to be a chance. How did he ever get to 194cm given how short his old man was.
Macca would suit him, let's all hope he turns out ok.

has played a bit of ruck, but will be developed as a forward. kicked 7 goals in a game for claremont colts.... all i can find......

I remember something about him getting the second most hit-outs for the year. Can't quote a source, or not sure on the details i.e. on whether it was for Colts B or the comp, but that's my understanding. Hawks were quite keen on him.

How many players will we have playing Claremont reserves next season? :O

Hopefully we trade a few to other WAFL clubs, I don't see Hamp getting a look in any time soon with Cones, Richardson and Ninyette in the Claremont forward line. McGovern may get a chance with Derrickx on his way to Richmond.

Perfect "depth" pick.

Great size, can play forward/back/ruck, good kid with a good attitude and plenty of upside.

Haha...another poor Scabs survivor huh? Andrew and Brian Sutherland were always the two players in my time that stood out. I think Brian ended up playing with West Perth for a bit?

Was on the news last night - height wise not much between him and Hamp - But McGovern is build like a brick S--- house compared to Hamp

Yup - 2nd overall with 296 (Cranley first with 365)

Was 4th by average with Luke Adams 1st by a massive margin

Yup! Andrew was a moving and talking rock in high school so I am hoping his son is the same.
