Neil Craig when speaking about Scott Stevens made the comment that Scott knew his spot on the list was shaky , but he went to the coaching panel and said ''let me have a shoulder op and a one year contract and let me show you what I can do''

NC said that to him showed more than anything SS would do on the track that he wanted to play for the AFC.

starting to like this Stevens lad more and more.

This bloke is a very young player. Maturity may change the way he plays. He's got the talent as is worth retaining on the list if he wants to stay. He's out of contract at year's end.
His body language on the field is a worry. He looks as though he's not always in the same space as the other players. At times he looks as though he'd rather be elsewhere. Might be just the way he is, but I have a feeling he's still a kid and still growing up.
Let's hope he surprises us all in '07.

A good call beartoo...

At the Westies/Bays game a few weeks back. While the play was on the other side of the ground (in Glenelg's forward line) in the 4th quarter a Westies supporter screamed out "Look interested Jericho.." He looked over briefly and I felt sorry him. Has all the athletic tools, its all in the application. Let's just wait and see what 2007 has in store for him....

How about giving Jericho to Collingwood and we have Tarrant ???

Once again I ask how the **** do you know.

You are simply judging someone output in a game situation on an ill-informed perception. You simply perceive him to be lazy and not putting in the effort because that what you see on a Saturday afternoon playing for the bottom side in the SANFL.

Do you go to training everyday? Do you get access to the inner sanctum of the football club and read the feedback he gets from Neil Craig or Allen Stewart (SANFL development manager)?

The Adelaide Crows have a history of sending players back to there SANFL club for a number of reasons if they are not happy with there output in games or during training (See your beloved Darren Pfieffer) why hasn’t he been sent back?

If he is lazy and not putting the effort in to be a good AFL player, why hasn’t this happened?
Spot on :thumbsu:

Its a case of Drummond being selective in his views. Jericho has showed more in terms of willingness to be an AFL footballer than Darren Pfeiffer. If he didn't he would have been sent back to Westies a LONG LONG time ago.

Do then names Bock, Stevens, Massie, Shirley, Doughty etc ring any bells? ;)

However, on this occasion we will be struggling to delist players, whereas in previous years, it's been a little easier.

Matt Smith, James Begley, David Gallagher would have been better examples.
No actually they wouldn't have. Every player I have named, you have had a question mark or two over them for the last 2-3 years. TPTB think these players have something to offer. They have been proven right while the popular opinion on BF has been proven wrong, time and time again.

I actually think Luke has something more to offer but can't see it happening at the Crows.

It appears to me that he has been playing at Westies this year without a lot of confidence, caused by a lack of faith shown in him by the Crows coaching staff.

I think he'll be delisted or traded and go on to prove himself at another AFL club or become a very good player in the SANFL.

Huh??? If anything the coaching staff have shown too much faith - remember the Pre-Season GF.

I agree that Jericho has something tha could make him a very good afl player if he just fixes everything above his shoulders.

As fo Westies, I thought that there was a rift between Jericho and the coach? if so that may be a big reason for some of his poorer form.

I've always had high hopes for this kid,

Well that virtually signals the end for Luke. I don't think he is up to it anyway. A sad way for him to go, but the reality is that he just can't make it at AFL level.

Hope he has a long and fruitful career with Westies.

IMO Jericho should not be delisted this year:

- he is still one of the younger ones on our list (21yo and for example only 1 month older than Porplycia) and he has shown at times that he does have the attributes to play AFL

- i still believe that he is best suited as an attacking defender or midfielder (both roles where he can basically run in a straight line and use his pace, athleticism etc and long kicking to best advantage) rather than as a forward where we have mainly used him.

- i feel that he has also been hamstrung at Westies by being played all over the ground filling in gaps and that has not allowed him to settle down especially when he is in a crucial stage of his career. (even Chad Cornes has mentioned the unsettling effect of being played as a mr fix-it man)

Here's a challenge to all of those who say that Jericho should stay on the list.

Who are we going to delist??

At a minimum it has to be 3 - IMO it should be at least 4.

All I can come up with is

Clarke (retired)

Jericho

Skipworth.

Griffin and Hinge are contacted until the end of 2007 - I think. Gibson is only 20 and if he stays sound offers far far more than Jericho, the softest player on our list.

So who are the suggestions to delist then, so that the non-contributing Jericho can continue to receive his fat pay-packet?

I'd be a little surprised if these were on two year agreements coming off the rookie list.

I have a "hunch" Torney may call it quits after many injuries this season, If Iam right about Griffin I think he will go if Meesen stays....again IMO although he could easily make it, with his body being as thin as it is after 2 years he would need a minimum of another 2 years development...something I think the AFC is not prepared to do

When Meesen goes home, we have no alternative than to pesist with Griffen.
