The thing about crumpet face is that sometimes he forgets to use the words understood, allegedly, it is believed, and presents something as fact that is (in fact) completely false and unsubstantiated

ahhh. I would contend that he uses those phrases to ensure that he is not selling it as fact...and thereby avoids the possibility of being sued.

Purple swatted it away then suggested Eagles would be better placed to get Higan by swapping Darling and a pick.

Yeah I heard that as well. I don't get how West Coast would be in a better position. I'm pretty sure Barrett and co were saying two picks under 10 would be the starting point for negotiations. West Coast don't have a sub 10 pick and Darling certainly isn't worth that but somehow that is better than our pick #3 and a future first??? I get that it is hard to stay on top of all 18 clubs but geez doesn't take too much analysis to realise the flawed thinking. I really wish they'd have experts outside of Victoria to speak about Freo etc.

Yeah that's why he uses them, I've just seen instances where he's forgotten to and has presented something as fact and left himself open. There's an example during the lachie contract negotiations where he said something 'as fact' and it was picked up by reporters over east and they ran with it
