He is a warrior, he was impressive in that final and he straightened Carlton up.

He loves Sydney. Im not saying he is the answer to our goal kicking woes, but I just wanted to hear some comparisons.

We could play him on Travis Cloke..:p

Oh....dear.

Oh....dear.

fwiw, they were both competing for a ruck spot and it was full on training, Cloke was going outside the spirit of the game and against his teamate, he was getting dirty, niggling him and basically trying to stand over him for the number 1 spot .. Ive seen more of the training footage and the 'umps' so to speak were just guys from the club that kept letting it go an go, and the mad Irish man had enough... He is still a listed player, Cloke is not.

edit: was a listed player a week ago

We've seen the worst of Jesse's marking, trust me next year the ball will stick more often than not in his hands wether he is in the reserves or seniors.

His confidence issues will dissapear soon too.

There is more to this incident than meets the eye. Cloke was moved on at seasons end. Apparently it was off field related. Carlton would have moved Setanta on as well if he had a problem with the rest of his team mates.

By the way, I'm not saying that I want Setanta at the Swans. I'm willing to give the 'devil we know' another year to hopefully 'get it', but I wouldn't be against a trade if our position improved & Jesse got a new lease of life else where.

alot of people bag jesses hands which is fair enough at times, ive even seen him drop simple chest marks.. quinten lynch from the eagles used to have a similar problem a few years back.. he managed to turn it around and he began pulling down big pack marks.. if we picked up sentana id be spewing, hes a hack.. but i heard hoarse on 1116 sen this morning say he wasnt interested in sentana at the moment.. link..

My biggest fear is just looking back at those last few games of 09, and at certain moments this year Jesse is the sort of player where if it all ever just clicks he could tear games apart. And letting him go cheap (and lets face it he would be going cheap) only for him to suddenly turn it around would be a major mistake compared to the relatively low risk of keeping him on our list.

While I have been very frustrated by White's lack of displayed ability, and what often looks like lack of endeavour, I also believe that if he ever clicks, he could be like Hawkins was in the grand final. BUt in saying that, due to his marking ability (or lack thereof) I dont think we can afford to keep playing him at FF. Perhaps a stint down back would do him the world of good. We do need a bigger and stronger framed player in defence, where contested marking isnt so important, surely he can punch the ball?

The bloke has the heart the size of a white ant. Until he toughens himself up a bit and stops being lazy then he will continue being a hack. If he gets a bigger heart (I'd suggest going to see the Wizard of Oz) and has a fair dinkum go then I will kiss his footy boots.

Hi Scarecrow, why don't you pop on in as well.

Setanta officially delisted today can we grab him just for fun so he can bang some heads? I love the mad Irish players :thumbsu:

Picking up Setanta wouldn't be the end of the world... But not if it means Jesse goes.

And for those of you waging your memberships on who comes in and out of the team, get a grip. It's still the Mighty Bloods no matter who's playing or not. Show some honour and support your club through anything... even through the likes of a Fev or Sentanta selection.

Article on today's HS website suggests GWS and Sydney are the main suitors for Sentana, obviously the interest has been flagged. I don't think we require him as we already have taken Walsh under our wing but the club may have other ideas.

Why is it that there's barely a more dangerous looking and exciting Swans player than Jesse White that i see every time you play Geelong....and how come it seems anecdotally that these are his only sightings?

Seeveral times against Geelong he's taking big pack marks in the forward like kicking 2-3 goals and looking very good, i find it amazing he cannot seem to maintain that form against other sides. To my mind anyone who CAN play like that must be persisted with, surely he's a breakout candidate in the not too distant future. He's only say 22-23 y/o is he?

It is strange that he has indeed played some good games (indeed some of his better games) against the Cats. I remember in 2009 at the end of the year he played on Scarlett and took a few really strong contested marks on him and kicked a couple. That was when we all thought he could be a star but since then his best and worst have been so far apart it drives us all crazy. When he gets out-marked, out-muscled by players 10-13kgs lighter and 8cms shorter than him, it drives me up the wall.

Longmire still seems to have faith in him though.

That's correct, he's only 23 (24 by start of next season). Still plenty of upside but there are a lot of supporters on this site that want him gone. It's pretty hard to play as a FF when you're constantly pinch hitting in the ruck or kicking the dew in the 2's. He played the last 6 or so games this year and performed consistently even though he does have a problem catching the pill.
A little belief, an eye exam and possibly a mitt and he'll show his true potential...I hope!
