if anyone that knows jetta reads this, send him a message. keep running!!

id rather see jetts take the game on and get caught occasionally, than not back himself and play within certain confines. that would be limiting his potential.

plus, the more time he gets run down the more awareness he'll gain and he'll learn to become even more evasive ie getting a little handball off, or putting a little grubber through to run onto.

i wasnt at all disappointed he got run down last game, just showed that he had the confidence to take the game on. very pleasing to see.

if you look at the risk vs reward. could open their defence and lead to an easy swans goal, on the flip side, our defense should be able to handle the ball coming back the other way.

disclaimer: obviously the coaching staff have their input, but from a fans perspective, back yourself, you'll work it out eventually

GoTheSwannies,

May I add, the rest of the team also... McGlynn, Cunningham, Rohan..etc... all have pace.. Run, separate, kick to advantage, create space & hit targets

Jetta has been copping flak this week from his family after being run down by Adelaide's Brodie Smith, but it will not prevent him from taking the game to North Melbourne this weekend.

"I think they said Coyote finally caught the Road Runner," Jetta joked. "I don't let it get to me, it's family - they always joke around.

"It rarely happens, but the coaches say if you get tackled you get tackled. They just want me to get the ball and keep running.

My issue with his being run down wasn't that he was run down. My issue is what he did when recognized that he was about to be caught, he should have disposed of the football instead of that whatever-it-was move. If you are going to turn it over, turn it over 50m further from the opposition goal.

I think he just slipped over. Shouldn't happen too often.

in that incident where he got run down, does anyone know if there were any other players up-field? if there was no one else and he was in the clear, he could have kicked the ball long towards the goal square, sprint, gather and kick the ball right? unless there were other players upfield... sorry couldnt tell from the tv angle.

He would have to be the best kick overall at the club, his timing is second to none, when you hear a good golfer hit the ball sweet or a good boxer in a gym over every other boxer training you will hear a 'crack' when he hits a bag it turns heads that's what I hear from Jetta when he kicks, he is poetry in motion at full tilt he is creative short or can go long nearly always to advantage, both feet I love watching him kick. Kicks 70m torps during the warm ups. Oh yeah and he is fast.

I don't think he'd get caught too often so firstly probably isn't used to it. Secondly, he just lost his footing and slipped. It wasn't a deliberate "whatever-it-was move", it wasn't of his doing at all actually. He just tried to change angle and the grass didn't hold firm for him.

I find it pretty funny that if it was almost anyone else in the team it'd just be another holding the ball but because it's super Jets it's put under a spotlight/mentioned &/or analysed somewhat more than it would have otherwise been IMO (I don't mean just on here but more-so in general converstations/media etc). I don't fully comprehend why that it is, I suppose it's because it doesn't happen very often, which is a pretty commendable fact given he's the man most likely to take the game on.

Just as good as Cyril when he has the ball , not half as good as Cyril without the ball , needs to work on his defensive side far more.

Wont ever happen, he is who is, thats what stops him ever being a star

Nice article in the West Australian today about 4 Jettas playing for Swan Districts. (3 brothers and 1 cousin to our Lewis). They say his 20 y.o. brother Brandon has high end speed. Wonder if he could take the same path.

Brandon does very little at the moment and would need to improve considerably.

Swansfan51,

Lewis doesn't get a lot of the ball either, however his disposal is usually very good.

Can you elaborate a bit more about Brandon re size, skills, heart, tenacity, speed etc... Would love to know more & I'm sure that others on here would like to know also. You have to remember that neither Xavier Richards or Brandon Jack weren't expected to play & were expected to learn a few years in the 2nds before earning a gig.

However, from what we saw both may have a future with the right mentors, coaching & attitude.

Well I can't really say too much because he's only ever played 2 senior games for Swans (playing his 3rd in about half an hour against South Freo). He only had a handful of touches in the game I saw against Peel and I don't think he got a kick. From what I've heard his brother Aaron is a bit quicker if that's what you're keen on. Give it another couple of months and I'll have had a chance to see him across more than a couple of games, but his 2 match WAFL senior career isn't worth discussing as a potential AFL draftee.

Ozmale62 I was told he had a better game yesterday, possibly spurred on by older brother Graham who had 40+ touches

I think we all know your view on Jetta. Maybe you could add some value using some other (and more accurate) football insight.
And once again today I spoke to the club legend who totally agreed again and he said the hardest he runs is to be the man on the mark, but you would know.

Yep you know a guy who spoke to a guy who absolutely concurs and therefore justifies your incorrect view. Good one.

I will tell you this champ, you wouldn't know. You and a few others are blinded by 2 games in a row in 12, where he was a superstar, but not anymore. I was there at ANZ when he took off, I was there at the G when he took off leaving Bruce's lovechild behind. Now tell me since when he has done anything of note, apart from the odd goal , or limp tackle.
I would love nothing more than him to return to that form. Just have a look at Goodsy last night dashing away from his opponent on the wing at 34 years of age. Tell me when was the last time Lewis did that !

You know I read a lot of your posts and just because you write the same tripe in a more aggressive tone with tenuous cross references and a bit of name calling doesnt improve your argument. Lets go back to the original point, we know your view on Jetta so there no need to air it on a Zac Jones thread.

To be fair, Jetta's role now is completely different, and he's doing plenty in it.

But back to topic, hey?
