how can people be saying that jimmy allan has been poor? sure he hasn't lived up to expectations of some people but what about others like luke buckland and matt spencer? these guys played all last year and still arn't doing that much? allan is coming of a knee reco and doing more than them in my opinion. the last two week when he has been given a chance in the middle he has shown what he can do. the game against box hill he had 16 possessions and only played a half of footy. get of the blokes back and give him a chance. like someone else said blokes like thurley and koula have been in the system and still don't do that much. give the younger boys a bit of time

You can say he has been poor for the simple fact he has been. He started the year really well and has tailed off for what reason who knows. All i know is that the club took a punt on him and he has not shown that he is up to AFL or VFL standard. So what if he had done his knee, it doesen't give him a free ride when it comes to chopping players. Look at Spriggs and well he done his knee and nobody runs around saying oh he has been injured. Allan is a dud and lacks pace, it may be harsh but is simple.

dunno about buckland, but I am sure Spencer was only drafted at the end of last season.

Same goes for Buckland. Mick Turner said we wouldn't be seeing the player Buckland will become until a few years down the track when he gets a footballers body.

I think freakshows point was that those players weren't injured last season, whereas Allan was.

I don’t understand the crit on Allan or any of the others mentioned. What is expected of these players?
Allan, He was picked up as a Rookie not drafted as player. He was stiff not to be picked up before his knee and is probably a bit lucky given his size to given a chance after it.Its probably a bit of the Cats looking after their own(Falcons) to give him a chance on the Rookie list.

Really what are Rookies? They are basically project players unless like with Davey or Moloney , the ReqBoys mess up.

Buckland, probably a player who might grow into a Milburn, Rooke, Slade type but needs 2-3 years to put a body on him. Will he devellop? Its a footy smarts guess and thats why hes a Rookie
Byrne is in his 2nd year so is Smith, These two still might need more time but their D Day is coming at Geelong On or Out, but at least they have had two years of development and that might be enough for them to get a chance elsewhere

Spencer although a listed player was probably always going to struggle in his first year to go anywhere near getting game.

Remember Mackie, Enright and probably others. They took until their 2nd year and they were picks far higher than the Rookies mentioned. Give them time , especially considering we as a side are not exactly crying for more youth.

yeh ok look at spriggs! where is he now? he has been in the system a lot longer than allan and he is now in the VFL pretty fair comparison dont u think?

I think we should lay off Jimmy Allan. Geelong will still retain Allan IMO at the end of the year. So lets leave our judgements till the end of the 2nd year. The poor kid has just come off a knee reconstruction...
