Fall Out Boy

After seeing Jimmy Maher fail again last night, i had to wonder whether the selectors faith in him, when youngsters like Clarke are held back, is justified.

I don't doubt Jimmy's ability, but his record at ODI level is abysmal, something like 24 matches, 414 runs @ 27.6 with one 50, and at a strike rate of only 66.35.

Perhaps its time Jimmy was put out to pasture so that the likes of Michael Clarke can get more regular game time.

he normally opens for queensland so battin down the order isnt he's natural game so i guess that could be an excuse

Yeah Maher isn't really needed now with Michael Clarke doing so well in his handful of matches. He was only ever a reserve batsman and has now been jumped in the queue by the younger Clarke. Maher can also do away with pretending to be a wicket-keeper now that the world cup is over and we no longer have to choose from a limited squad of players.

Maher is a top batsmen who is another one of the very unlucky cricketers to have come during this era of Australian dominance.

Defeintaly not a lower order one day batsmen.

I was thinking the same thing. Maher scores too slowly for a One Day player, and should give up on becoming a keeper (Campbell is a better option). I think he is 30 years of age, aswell, which counts against him.

Nothing but extra baggage, even though they would now need that. Clarke is a far better option and Campbell is a better bat as well. He may get the odd score against weakend line ups but why they persist with him and Hogg is wierd.
