Senior Jimmy Webster

I don't see them moving him either just need more of him, one kick stands out when he hit Marshall in the forward line from the wing splitting 2 Melbourne defenders. If only he was further up and we seen this more often instead of the bombing from others & wasting I50's.

Comments:
Geez since injury Jimmy has been Mr Consistent and is definitely someone who has really stood up in the absence of Robbo. You can see the team really trusts his kicking as at every opportunity in the backline he is always getting the handball receives to move it on up the field. Still would love to see the coaches move him up the field and use his kicking going inside 50.

For you Supercoaches out there Jimmy highlighted as a high scoring POD; Get him in there!

DEFENDERS
Jimmy Webster | $495,600 | Average: 105.2 (6 games) | Ownership: 0.7 per cent

We have been keeping a close eye on Webster at POD watch over the past few weeks and he looks to be the real deal. The Saint is playing the high-possession rebounding role that many thought would be left to Shane Savage, averaging 24.7 disposals and 105.2 SuperCoach points from his six games. Webster managed a career high in possessions (31) and points (132) last week against the Dockers, and his low score of 81 came in Round 1. He’s at a great price for a defender who could average 100-plus for the year but with a break-even of 62, this is the week to jump on.

Loving Jimmy's work at the moment, would of liked him to have spent more time on DeGoey but its a bit of a balancing act. You can see that his full of confidence hitting pretty much all his kicks. It wont be long until teams start to put a bit of time into him to prevent his rebound.

Webster rises to the challenge:
Six players, three with under 10 games.

That’s how the Saints’ back six shaped up against the Magpies in Round 9.

St Kilda’s willingness to field such a young defence was surely facilitated by the career-best form of rising talent Jimmy Webster, who's averaged nearly 25 disposals per game at 80% efficiency.

Career best 36 possessions for Jimmy (second personal best for the season) & also career best form. Loving his work and very comfortable at this level. Shows how critical it is getting players into the 50-100 games as soon as possible.

Small grab from the "Gresham's Talent on show" article on the saints website;
In a first half where St Kilda wasn’t able to punish Richmond on the scoreboard, Jimmy Webster was the man who once again stood up in defence, amassing a career-high 36 possessions and dominating proceedings from the back.

The 24-year-old’s deadly left foot was instrumental in launching the Saints into attack, and he set up a game-high 11 rebound-50s.

The Tasmanian has been in career-best form in 2018, going a long way to fill the void left by retiree Leigh Montagna and injured leader Dylan Roberton.

Jimmy starting to get recognised for his recent form!

Saints make Team of the Week

Two Saints have made Kane Cornes' AFL.com.au Team of the Week.

Jimmy Webster's outstanding form has been recognised with a spot in the backline, while Jade Gresham's forward dominance has seen him named in the forward pocket.

Webster has been in career-best form, averaging 26 disposals per game at 80% disposal efficiency.

The young defender had 36 disposals and 11 rebound 50s against Richmond on Saturday afternoon and has been a shining light this season.

With the departure of 'Joey' Montagna last year leaving a significant void, and the continued absence of Dylan Roberton, it’s fallen on Webster to help lead the new-look back six.

Round 10 Team of the Week

B: Heath Shaw, Jimmy Webster, Jamie Macmillan
HB: Tom Phillips, Tom Stewart, Kade Simpson
C: Adam Treloar, Nat Fyfe, Andrew Gaff
HF: Michael Walters, Jesse Hogan, Angus Brayshaw
F: Jade Gresham, Josh Caddy, Devon Smith
FOLL: Brodie Grundy, Trent Cotchin, Mitch Robinson

I/C: Patrick Dangerfield, David Zaharakis, Ben Jacobs, Patrick Cripps

2017

Hurley 25.6 disposals 6.9 rebound 50s
Hibberd 27.4 disposals 6.8 rebound 50s

Laird 29.4 disposals 4.6 rebound 50s

With stats like that and provided current form continues he will certainly throw himself into the AA discussions at the end of season.

Bit of a quieter night for Jimmy, coming in expecting a busy night keeping Darling in check however with him going down early probably should of freed him up a bit more. With all the outs of the backline through injury and suspension he is now the experienced head of the backline. Will watch with interest this weekend how he goes against a dangerous Sydney forward line this week.

Jimmy Webster
The tough defender can nullify opponents and is averaging 25 disposals per game. Missing two matches with a hip concern hurts his chances, but Webster has impressed in a backline decimated by injury. - Dinny Navaratnam

Article on Jimmy in the Herald Sun

Camera-shy St Kilda star Jimmy Webster reveals his funny side as he develops into star defender

ST KILDA youngster Daniel McKenzie grabbed a chocolate brownie and dipped it in barbecue sauce.

Giggling from the corner of a Perth hotel last week sat Jimmy Webster and Tim Membrey.

“There were some brownies and a big bowl of barbecue sauce, so we sat the sauce next to the brownies,” Webster said.

Next to be fooled by the odd culinary pairing were St Kilda’s fitness boss Matt Hornsby and the club doctor.

“We could tell from the first bite they knew something was up,” Webster said. “They were sort of looking at the brownie, but I think they finished it.”

For the first time, welcome into the mindset of St Kilda star Jimmy Webster.

What isn't to be said SAINTER OF THE DAY. One of the few to hold their heads up high for the night. Just need a few more.

We cant take a trick this year. Jimmy is up and about probably lead the B&F and now is out injured. Richo hopeful it will only be the 1 game after the bye but geez that hurts. Plenty of rehab for him to do whilst out hunting in Tassy during the bye.

From the match report on the saints website;

MEDICAL ROOM
Gold Coast:
The Suns got one injury to add to a horror night, with second-year utility Jack Bowes going off late in the third quarter with a quad injury. He sat out the final term and coach Stuart Dew said he would be assessed early in the week.

St Kilda: Two setbacks for the Saints, with defender Jimmy Webster playing just five minutes before going off with an adductor problem. Coach Alan Richardson said he would likely miss one match following the bye. Young defender Bailey Rice went off with concussion following a third-quarter head clash with Jack Martin and did not return.
