Article in today's Bully with Joyce, saying competition is super tight to get into Thursday squad. Prelude to Rocket's Rd1 team. Exciting to see which 26 get the nod... and who then earn best 22 for Rd1.

How weird does it feel to be talking about team availability in this way? I'm ******* euphoric. Leaving the office early for this one.

*!!! I thought it was on Friday night :(

Only the AFL would schedule a match at 4:50pm on a Thursday. It's like they don't want people to show up.

Stoked to see how we'll go with a near full strength side against the premiers. Hoping Brodie and Ah Chee have big games to cement their spots for round 1.

27 man squad has been named. Will be cut to 24.

1 Pearce Hanley
2 Jarrad Grant
3 Matt Rosa
4 Jack Martin
6 Alex Sexton
8 Brayden Fiorini
9 Gary Ablett
10 Kade Kolodjashnij
11 Touk Miller
13 Callum AhChee
15 Dan Currie
16 Rory Thompson
17 Steve May
19 Tom Lynch
20 Michael Barlow
21 Jack Leslie
24 David Swallow
25 Jarryd Lyons
27 Ben Ainsworth
28 Jarrod Witts
29 Jack Bowes
30 Peter Wright
33 Aaron Hall
36 Josh Schoenfield
38 Jesse Joyce
41 Will Brodie
42 Adam Saad

Some interesting choices/non-choices.
Still no TMac. Lonergan not picked. Leslie, Schoenfield and Grant a bit of a surprise.

I wouldn't drop a ruck as that would force Wright or Lynch into the ruck if Witts gets injured

I think the 3 you mentioned are spot on
I would go into this game as if it was round 1.
I dont think we will play 2 rucks. Wright will help out, we should play as such.

Lonergan is pretty stiff, As is TMac (if available). Clearly Matera has played himself out of his spot and Ainsworth into it!

5 of these 27 to be cut for round one makes me think:
Currie
Joyce
Scheonfield

With these guys playing for the final 2 defensive spots (3rd Tall / HBF)
Leslie / Bowes / KK

Forward Line:
Grant to be given a half to see how we go playing tall, GAJ to be given a half playing small

Also the Bulldogs changes from the grand final squad (25):

Out: Hamling (Freo), Morris (inj), Roughhead (inj), Campbell (dropped)
Ins: Cloke, Murphy, English, Adams, Crameri, Dale, Williams

This squad is stronger then the premiership team. Great test prior to round 1

Unless Rocket hasn't made his mind up yet for the #1 ruck?

Seemed like it was Witts spot to lose, but then Currie really stood up in game 2.
