Would look great with a better midfield around him. Not so great with a mediocre one.

Nees to work on his skills a bit but his ability to get clearances is gold for our midifeld.

So you're singling out Watson as the reason why we're going to finish bottom 6 each year?

Seriously, I don't believe for a second that Burns and O'Bree are significantly quicker than Jobe.

Basically Jobe has to get better at manning up his opponent, his speed has little bearing. If speed (lack thereof) is such an issue with Jobe then what of our players that actually have some pace? What does it say about them? ;)

I am not singling him out as the reason. I have been saying he lack of pace is part of the reason.
I have also said continually that until we have someone with better pace that can do the same job then his spot in the side is safe. The guys is sensational at reading clearance's or reading general play. In fact somethimes he see's too much becasue his vision is better than what his skills are capeable of achieving.
His pace is ordinary. He lumbers around the ground and you can belive what you wan't but Burns and O'Bree are quicker than him, in fact i think most players in the leauge are quicker than him. His pace has everything to do with him being exploited. He gets burnt off by other midfielders. next time you see a live game count how many times you see him 5 to 10 meters behind an opponent. Opposition sides generally come up with a plan to use whoever is playing on Watson as one of their go to players becasue they know that they can get away from him. Opposition player makes a 5 meter break on Watson. Takes the mark and plays on straight away.
It is a simple fact that of midfield has been the least accountable in the leauge over the last 4 years. That says that everyone who has played in it has had a problem and until we change it or remove the players with the problems then we will continue to finish bottom 5.
Some of you really need to take off the rose coloured glasses and realise the side has some serious problems and a few of the golden children are causing some of these problems.

Trust me, I'm not wearing rose coloured glasses - I get the vibe that Watson gets lambasted on here just because he isn't that quick. Watson's has the body of a KPP yet plays in the midfield - thats his speed issue.

Back on the topic, do you really think Watson's lack of speed would be such an issue if collectively, our midfield were accountable and applied the required amount of pressure to win games of football?

Trust me I do realise how serious our problem is - to the point where I have completely lost faith in the players I once thought would potentially take us back up the ladder.

Watson's weaknesses are just a fraction of the problem

In terms of clearences you can have Jobe in the same sentence as Mitchell, Black, Cross, West, Foley, Ablett, Corey, Bartel etc

However when it comes to disposal, Jobe is by himself. His turnovers by foot are pretty oridinary and most of the time they prove costly.

I'm happy to give up 10 clearences a game if it means 10 less direct turnovers.

Jobe is lucky we are currently short on quality inside mids.

Given it has already been established that his effectiveness is up around 80%, does this mean you're expecting 10 clearances and 50 disposals (10 direct turnovers + 40 effective possessions) & still want him out of the team?
