"I've got a bad feeling about this"

seriously, if we win this without Watson, Hocking & Lonergan it'll be a freaking miracle
Genuine lol's.

I would prefer they be cautious with Jobe's comback, dont want him doing his hammy again for the third time this year. We have been doing ok in the middle without him.,

He's a ****ing gun, and well worth waiting for. Chances are 2011 isn't the year for you guys, so why push it?

As an aside, some of the Camry Crows supporters were saying that they think Bernie Vince straight swap for Jobe was a fair trade at the end of this year.

lollin'

Vince for jobe?? Ahh that's funny!

Hirdy normally has he big interview on Fridays so looking forward to Hear what he has to say, surely they can't hide the fact he's not playing for another 4 weeks with soreness or something.

That's a horrifying prospect. Absolutely horrifying.

I wish there could be SOME update on Jobe at SOME point this week. The fact that there has been nothing is really worrying.

Paul Hamilton just on SEN said Jobe had some tightness/soreness this week which has set back his recovery by a week - he has not done his hammy again, hoping to be right next week

Still, more than a little concerning. Considering he was "extremely close" to playing last week to now not playing the following week. Hopefully it's not an ongoing issue.

ESSENDON coach James Hird insists captain Jobe Watson hasn't had a setback in his recovery from a hamstring strain, despite the key midfielder being ruled out of the Bombers' clash with Carlton on Saturday night at the MCG.

His absence for a further week cast doubt over his rehabilitation from the injury, but Hird said the club was just taking a conservative approach.

"Jobe actually ran flat out on Wednesday and trained pretty much fully, and just didn’t feel quite right," Hird said from Windy Hill on Friday.

"I wouldn't even say it was a setback.

"The game is at the point now where the ability to rotate isn’t as great as it [was] and guys spend a bit more time out on the ground, and we're just not prepared to take a risk with Jobe, as big a game as this is for us."

Gotta love James.

Not sure how feeling tightness in a hamstring strain that was meant to have healed by now isn't a setback. Fair enough it isn't a big setback like this thread was rumouring but it is still a setback.

not really. It's his second hammy for the year, so if there's any doubt whatsoever, he misses.

It's not a set-back if an injury simply takes longer than the average healing time, and the club is conservative because it's happened before this year.

Plus Lance we ain't going to win the flag this year so the club is right in focusing on getting him right. At least another kid gets a go tomorrow night.

agree. We need to learn to win without Jobe, and now we find out if we can win without he and Hocking.

Absolutely no point in risking Watto if he isn't 110% right to go.

That's the silver lining for me, too.

We've gone from the Knights era: cannot win a contest without Jobe
To earlier in the year: can win the clearances, but cannot dispose effectively and therefore win without Jobe
To now: can win the clearances, with effectivness, and win without Jobe

People like Zaharakis and Melksham standing up has been a massive bonus for us.

These are both guys that can win a clearance and use it really well. They are exactly what our side has been screaming out for, and the longer Jobe's out, the better chance they have to develop.

Scott Lucas?!

Glad that they're waiting until he's 100%. Personally, I thought he shouldn't play after the Hawthorn game, since there was really nothing to be gained by having him out there if he was so touch and go. He just didn't look right at all, and wasn't really contributing.

If his hamstring issues have anything to do with nerves in that region, well... you can't just about write off his career-best form of earlier in the year.

Ironic isn't?

Mark McVeigh, in '08, entering into career-best form having destroyed Judd the week before, goes in against the Dogs and plays a blinder only to pop his hamstring in the last.

Has never, ever been the same player and now looks a shadow of the player that was so dynamic and dangerous only 3 years ago.

Watson, leading the Brownlow count and countless other awards, does his hamstring, coincides with our 5 week slide and finishes both his and our season.

Let's hope he plays next week then.
