The club wanted him to play with the majority of his senior team-mates. Should they have? Probably not. I personally think that was a stupid mistake and he and Goddard et al should have played in Morwell. I actually think it was a bit arrogant and dumb by Essendon to try to have their cake and eat it too. But there you go.

Didn't see your responses before I posted that. And meaning the same reasons why any club chooses to play a player in nab cup or not. Ie general soreness = omitted = flu etc. all are just part of the general misdirection from any afl club. A bit like when hawthorn kept saying Rioli was only a couple of weeks away.
Did not intend to imply by General soreness that JD has an IN.
