Classy, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

[Enter boring mum joke]

iT'S AS SIMPLE AS THIS
Myself anlong with many others that have seen, good, hard footballers represent our club will NEVER accept this guy as anything but a weasil that
has survived on being an ars sucker.

Weak as pi ss ,yet now there are those of u who want to
re-enforce his importance to the club merely because u think he played 1-ONE good game on Friday night ??

He didn't even...........

I dont doubt that Bowden has good qualities, but my argument is that he is the only player on our list with trade value that WILL NOT form part of our premiership success. Therefore, good business says that you trade when value is high and as we are rebuilding, our main aim is to position ourselves for the best talent available who will work for the next ten years with Lids, Tambling, Foley, Patterson, Thursty, Raines, Hughes, Reiwoldt, etc.

Bowden is absolutely NO use to these guys and/or Wallace. Bowdens position is only for the current day, when thats not what we should be doing.

Bowden could get us quite a bit at the trade table - he offers a top side much more than he offers us. Just remember what Sydney paid for Ted Richards only 2 years ago and then tell me we couldnt do well out of trading Joel.

to the rest of the nuff nuffs...this is what culture change is all about. You see to many are worried sick about a JB going to the next level in anything but yellpw and black......big ****ing deal....if he does, to us it doesnt ****ing matter...when we are ready...he is on the downhill slide...now is the time to get what we can.and 4 years down the track, he might be on the back of a convertible, bidding farewell and we have a couple of kids who are shaping our future. FFS wake up, we have forgotten how to be smart at tigerland. ;)

I just don't understand Sydney getting Ted Richards then giving him games. He wouldn't get a game for Richmond because without the better players around him he would be exposed for the dud he is. So I find it hard to use him as a comparison for anything because I just find the fact he is playing AFL for a good side too bizarre to compare to anything.

I don't mind Bowden as a player. I think he has been pretty good for us in previous seasons. But this year he has been poor and IMO that has been a big contributor to our ladder postion. He just hasn't stood up this season when we really needed him to. As for trade value, I don't think he has as much currency as you think, Wally. Not much of a market for 30 year old, undersized centre half backs. Clubs are reluctant to trade these days and I can't see anyone going for Bowden at this atage of his career.

I think the only real options for Bowden are to retire or play on with us. I agree that Bowden's positon is for the current day and he won't be part of a premiership push. But maybe that's enough for the moment. He could play on for another two years just to take some of the heat from the youngsters (at least from the supporters, if not the opposition :D). I don't see Bowden as a 300 game player, but I could see him playing another one or two years then bowing out as Tiger player.

Thanks Crumden. Even though l disagree with you on this one, its good to actually have the conversation with someone that talks through their arguments constructively.

As for Bowden, l think he still has plenty of time in his career. He has played an unaccountable and non wear-n-tear position his whole career. He never gets injured, his role doesnt demand that he his pace is crictical to his longevity and he's a dual AA. Seriously, a top side could get 3 years out of him easily.

Hawthorn were clinical in these 50-50 decisions and look how they've progressed in terms of talent for the future. Joel is the only player on our list that we could potentially cash in on. Kane Johnson... nope. Richo... too late. Brown... better to stick than move on.

Joel bowden,
my first look was wow this kid can play and i got real excited and thought we had a player who could be a great of the game./
first 30 games he was hard at the contest knocked people over floated across the front of packs and took some great marks and kicked telling goals.
then he hurt his shoulder/collerbone twice.

The player we have now is a good player but not the out and out gun game turner i thought he was going to be.

i am not fussed either way (keep or trade) i dont think of him as a all time great of the club which is a shame becouse he should have been
