This is what I copped every time I defended Stevie J when he got rubbed out.

And on some of those occasions you would have been correct too.

Do the morons in SA realise that Ford and Holden have both left Australia for dead, and plenty of people have lost their jobs. Taking delight in people losing their jobs is seriously poor form. I understand the effect of people losing their jobs is an increase in the unemployed and more people will be in a similar position to 99% or Port supporters, and they feel like they are in a growing group of individuals.

I agree!

The AFL loves committees and hands one of the most important roles in regulating the game to but one mere mortal.

Makes absolutely no sense IMO.

Isn't Hocking involved? He has to sign off. This means its a two man panel - and it is still not working so far.

Hocking should be looking after the overall AFL interests. Thinking concussion /examplars of what grass root players and their tribunals should expect/ conduct of the game of AFL.

Hocking should not have ticked off the Burton bump. This one has left everyone confused - after a longish period where the AFL looked after its long term interests (and those of its employees) by declaring the head as a no hit zone. And almost everyone was adjusting to that norm.

He should not have ignored an (attempted?) strike off the ball. Acts like these off the ball should be punished even if the action failed to cause damage. The AFL has to make this clear to all footballers across the country. As it stands- if you cause damage to a player off the ball you will be sanctioned BUT if your action fails and does not cause damage its play on.

Christian has stated that past record should not be taken in to account (correct me if I have that wrong). Willful acts to a player who cannot defend themselves - with potential to cause serious injury- should be cumulative. Sicily should have got one for the knee drop to the head and one extra for the repeat of a lack of control with his leg stomp/rake. His work has no place in the game of AFL alongside chicken wings,choking etc.

Where do we stand?
Players can bump again (even if there are better football options at the time). if a head clash occurs bad luck - unavoidable accident.
Off the ball incidents can be overlooked even if the intention to cause injury is clear.
Willful repeat offenders who damage the spirit of the game get no extra penalty consideration.

It was not a good week for our game . IMO.
