Totally agree with you Grendel.Grendel said:From what I see of Smith's game, he's constantly going the Schwab route of running but running sideways.
Of course, there isn't a whole lot for him to go to at CHF atm either which doesn't help his cause in straightening up. Just not sure the current game plan suits him to well either.
Beat Hird, carved up by Waite, non-descript perfomance last Sunday (at times looked as though he didn't have an opponent) and played like he was lost too.
He's a quality player but struggling. Not alone there either and given that it's mainly the senior players who are finding it the most difficult to adjust to Clarkson might just be an indicator of how hard it is to 'shake off' the years of Schwab style footy.
Love to see him play better (because he IS capable of playing better) but not going to damn him on a few poor games in a row, more so after an interupted pre-season and returning from his previous woes re the Hamstring troubles.

Take a leaf from Croady run up the guts and kick it as far as you can.. the forwards will know where to run because they have to.
This look away handballing and kicking doesn't work 90% of the time, and looks absolutely sheit. Why do the Hawks do it??
When learning to play together again and learning new game plans, I sure the idea is to keep it as simple as possible.
Not a big deal but the sort of thing that leads to knowledge and understanding of eachother that results in wins instead of losses.
It seems to me if the current group knew each-others games a bit better we could be 6-1 in equal first instead of 1-6 equal last.
I'm going to be the ever optomist this week and slap some money on the Hawks to make the eight... it may be money wasted but I'm proud of their commitment and effort this year.
Go Hawkies
