Thats generally as a result of the club not wanting the player, but I agree we should wait until the PSD before we celebrate

Ah well, I guess we'll see in time. Your side seemed to do ok last year with him in the squad. At worst he'll be handy backup and provide competition for spots amongst the talls at both ends.

I think Anthony's personality issues are being overplayed. We have Simon Lloyd at the club who was at Collingwood for years and he is very committed to building a strong culture at the club so if he has no issue bringing in Anthony then neither do I

If we do get JA and can sort him out and 'Fremantle' him he will be a great player for us - he will develop even further and most likely help out considerably with an already gun forward line

I don't think celebrating is the right term. He is not the messiah, he is another good young player who fills a role for us. Iti s probably a bit of a gamble with the issues outlined re: his head space. I'm of the opinion that he is probably not as bad as made out on the boards but where there's smoke there is fire so he may need to be given the message from Harves and bondy and managed appropriately. Let's just be pleased, if it comes off, that we have picked up a potentially very useful new member to our group.

To be honest Im not really bothered whether we get him or not. He probably isn't best 22 either. More having a dig at Collingwood supporters saying he is going to be a virus etc. But then you go have a read at other Collingwood supporters saying he is a great bloke.

Good get by Freo

I struggled to see where he would fit in with the best 22 at Collingwood and his not a defender his a forward and with our fast tackling pressure game plan he was going to struggle get a game with Cloke and Dawes

He will be good for you blokes play him at FF and Pavlich at CHF be a good combination he just struggles against the top 4 or 5 defenders in the league the Lakes and Scarlets just seems not to be strong enough but people saying his lazy is not true he chase hard just isnt very quick

Its also rumoured that the deal would've involved a pick upgrade in your favour (pick 20/38 for 43/60). Unless we knew we could get Anthony in the PSD I think we would've taken a straight swap for Anthony, you don't give 3 year contracts to someone who is only worth pick 55

Haven't read this thread for a while, but congrats to you guys, looks like he'll be going to Freo. He'll be a good player for you lot, those who think he'll be a poor pick up will be pleasently surprised.

No bias at all from me here, he's walked out on the club and isn't a Pies player now. Will take his chances in front of goal, won't stop trying and presenting and will try and run down opposition players. Can be thrown back as well.

Was hoping he'd go to Carlton or the Gold Coast personally, but good luck to him.

Be a great pick up if we can snare him in the PSD, hopefully the other clubs pass him by and or we can pay him more. Definitely would be a great option at full forward/2nd tall forward, which IMO was our biggest weakness this season behind missing a 2nd ruckmen. Would allow Johnson to go back to his best position sweeping across the half back line with Duffield, perhaps giving Broughton more midfield time, as well as giving Mayne the 3rd best defender which IMO will see is offensive work perhaps get close to matching is defensive.

two factors in freos favour here, firstly, salary cap, we have plenty of it and can outbid most rival clubs with a front loaded contract. goldcoast and melbourne would be the exception. secondly, he wants to play for freo. i think clubs are wary of picking up players who dont want to be there, not good business to have disgruntled players, especially ones who are on good coin (which he would have to be to outbid us)...

Depends how they price his contract might be $700k for 2011, $300K for 2012 and $50K for 2013 or whatever permutation. How many clubs have $700K available in 2011???

Jack is talented but he is virtually uncoachable. Imagine if Fremantle ever played in a drawn GF & one of your players was more disapointed about delaying his trip to Las Vegas, rather than his own side failing to win the flag. He's not a virus as such, but just a massive ego.

Did you call him a virus last year when he kicked the winning goal to get us into a prelim. Do you know that he also played injured all 2009. Didak only played from round 20 with his torn muscle. Let's face it, you are a true fan gravy.

If he comes he is here as part of our best 22. Mzungu also, and Faulks will be damn close also. Griffen slightly different as he is more injury cover than a positional addition. I think that is pretty incredible recruitment.

In the draft we look likely at the very least get access to some decent mids such as Conca or Parker, or talls such as Cooke, Hamps Darling or Watson.

That's the bit that scares me. I think he is a good get, but don't see him as a certainty for best 22. But he definitely improves our list and gives some more options, and as you say, we have the money, so no big downside there.
