Hope we get him. He hasn't set training alight so far but he is a forward doing full length midfield drills so he isn't going to be as prominent as the smaller midfield types.

JA is a dead-eye in front of goal. I was at the Pies v Crows prelim 2 years ago and he slots them beautifully from anywhere. Who else in our team do we have a high level confidence in besides the big Pav?

Nobody.

Along with his ability to play down back, he's a viable option to take a mark and slot it in the forward line. The rest of our forwards whilst great at applying pressure and causing havoc aren't the most reliable shots.

Mayne I've got no confidence in, neither does he have any in himself. I'm
More confident when pav lines up from 50, in close he isnt that flash. If anthony can be given 4 or 5 chances a game I'd be more confident with him linin up than anyone else in the team

So do I. Not a saviour but he brings something we don't have at the moment - finishing. He is demonstrating his commitment to the club by training hard even while there's a chance the system will send him elsewhere. The club's leadership is strong enough now to handle a different personality. Anthony finding space at Subi to get on the end of our midfield's work - works for me.

im pretty confident, that JA will be better for us than anyone else we can snare in the PSD. he can fill two positions. all we are going off with his training is salim (i do very much respect your reports and opinions salim btw ) and a hackdorn report, i think its fair to assume that if JA is picked up in the PSD by fremantle, that he HAS infact impressed the coaching staff with his training. Bondy wouldnt have come out saying "John wants us and we want John", if bondy wasnt sure that he would play a real part in us moving forward.

we have never had a decent full forward for any real length of time. JA will be much MUCH better than any of those players on that list, bar the great tony modra of course.

Michael Brown was a full forward? That'll be news to him. He was injured most of the time he was at Freo.

Modra was a brilliant full forward given the delivery he was receiving.

You have to remember full forward is an incredibly tough position to play. That's why they are the stars of the game. Lots of clubs lack decent fulll forwards. That's why when you snag a good one you're laughing.

But Subi is not kind to big powerful full forwards. They have the occasional good game but plenty of times they don't fire. JA could be ideal as he is a decent size and a good kick. AND where else are you going to find a ready made forward? Sometimes you gotta dance with the ones that don't have boyfriends.

Fatso Cummings won a Coleman while at West Coast so Subi must not have been a bad omen. I know he booted 14 against the Crows at the WACA but he also kicked 10 against us at Subi. You've mentioned one forward and not one permanent forward of which Anthony would be.

I'm not talking about the goal-kicking attributes of the entire squad, I'm talking about our forward line players. The only person I'd have confidence 9/10 is Pavlich. It would be nice to get another skilled goal kicker from set shots into the forward line.

I'm kind of glad Anthony will find his way to Freo after the whole Tarrant saga. It seems only fair that a player from Collingwood found his way to Freo after that situation and I'm not dirty on the situation.

The boys job is footy and to get as much out of it as he can, and if he thinks his best bet is in WA then that's up to him and I hopt works out.

I've obviously watched a lot of Jack over the past few years, and I believe that if he has a full pre-season without setback he'll be a pretty good contributor. I put a lot of last years fall from grace down to the fact he had such an ordinary pre-season.

If Jack works on the area's of weakness in his game and improves them he will be damaging enough, and worth 60 odd goals a year.

In my mind he is definitely a forward compared with defender, and in saying that, Peter Faulks will be among the best full-backs in the comp by 2013 anyway, so that spot in my mind is covered at Fremantle.

There were always a lot of supporters at Collingwood whom said he'd be no more than a third tall. I always disagreed. I always belived that if his weakness' were improved he would make a pretty reasonable out of the square full-forward.

He tends to look for the body a little too much when the ball is delivered into the forward line.

If he learns to time his leads and does a lot of work on this, his potential to become a damaging forward is pretty high.

Anyhow, like I stated earlier, with a solid pre-season you have a 50-60 goal forward on your hands.

Also he needs to add a little size to his frame, then the body on body work he tries to compete in may become a little easier.

In the first part of 2009 this bloke looked pretty classy up forward by the way. He kicked a few bags of 4 and always contributed on the scoreboard, so at worst you have a player that will hit the scoreboard at least 2 times a game.

Just a note, I saw him take Tarrant to the cleaners at the G in 2009, as he did with ben Rutten a couple of times.

All in all, if he gets his attitude right, works on a few weakness' and gets his body right, you may just have a player on your hands, and he's only 23 or so.

i remember that game in 2009 & i also remember being surprised at Anthony out bodying tarrant in a marking contest. i think he could be very good 4 us at full forward.

Assuming he comes here he will be at the very worst a better player than Murphy, and for all the Murphy negativity, he would have been very close to having a successful career with us. The extra margin in skill, aggression and flexibility will make the difference.

I would still like to see Clarke, Sibbo, Houghton, MJ, Bradley and Mayne as options for time at FF. Even Silvagni. But JA would be at the front of that list, and if we have a player who can lock down that position then that is a huge positive.

That goal you are thinking about is the one De Boer kicked right on the siren at the end of the first quarter against Carlton last game of the home and away season.

from an objective point of view, as a player, he's probably a two goal (on average) full forward, and works well in stretching the opposition defences if you have multiple talls. in 09 he played on guys like Lake/scalett/Rutten.... Anthony you get a solid performer when fit.
