It's more than that. It's just not a direct correlation. Barker being gone doesn't equate to better midfield.
I wish it was that easy. Midfield has been boosted by three blokes playing in the VFL, taking instruction, developing, putting in the work, earning selection to the senior squad when the time has come for them and demonstrating that their path back to the 22 was the right call.
There's no way to know whether their selection and improvement doesn't happen anyway.
Then we have the benefits of the bye round, the positive effects of Cripps and McKay re-signing and the weight that lifts off the team, etc.
An overwhelming amount of variables to continue bagging someone no longer there. Some of those Barker would have had a positive influence on.
