I'm excited to see how things change for us midfield wise. Hoping for tighter positioning, more physicality, more contributions rather than just a few individuals. Seeing guys like Dow looking more sure and confident on what they are doing out there.

I think a game where our midfield is very accountable and physical where if we lose the ball it goes back under a lot of pressure and we intercept and attack from defence is the way forward for us. Not this unaccountable roulette where we play wide of our opponents. We have a heap of offensive defenders who are underutilised because we don't apply pressure and force turnovers.

Interesting to see what changes under Power. I'd love to have a midfield that beats its opponents physically or tackles them into submission.

It's a fair stretch clearly but imagine this;

1) a modicum of common sense is applied and the plow doesn't get suspended.

2) plow has a good day against the swans and as a result Heeney doesn't. Blues squeek home.

3) blues on a bit of a roll. Plowman towels up Ryan and Curnow sheed and blues get home.

4) blues are 6 and six and dreaming of finals. No hint of review discussions.
6-6 still probably isn't "good enough" relative to where we would have expected to be. The review can only be a good thing relative to our performance, and think it shouldn't even be a news event - every club should be constantly reviewing their football department.

I think Lloyd is in deep trouble. If the review finds anything isn't where it should be, then it shows incompetence in his department.

I have a rule for myself and my staff that you should never stay in the same position for more than 3 years, after that you become stale and far less productive. JB although having shifted into different lines has basically had the same title for 11 years, and no doubt would have had a fair amount of CBF and even been a bit jolted where he was personally going seeing his dream of being a senior coach washing away.
Don't disagree to a point. He loved being part of a footy club, and for some people it is not a job doing what they love. The majority of people work because they have little choice. I can fully understand why he stayed. He was wanted and contracted for 11 years and he lived his dream.

I loved being a glazier… until I hurt my back and basically got told I couldn’t do that any more. So I went back to my hobby… playing around with computers. When my brain got broken back in 2011, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do that any more… I still can, probably not as well as before. But in the event I can’t, I’ve found out I’m a bit of an artist when it comes to doing planted, aquascaped fish tanks. So maybe I’ll end up doing that instead of programming. Living the dream!

But you don't have 50,000 people commenting on your work and blaming you for everything wrong with the aquascaped fish tank industry, quality of your work, your decision making etc..Nothing more relaxing than an aquascaped fish tank though....

Should check out the Takeshi Amano Portuguese tank… there is also an English guy who was one of Amano’s students… he’s retired now. This is one of my tanks.

Barker on SEn. Uninspiring and far from honest. All his decision aparently?
So relieved he as gone. No sense of accountability. Complacent. Dead boring radio. Just my take. Felt irrationally angry hearing him.

I thought the opposite, answered each question honestly and nothing was normal footy speak "on week at a time"

Wasn’t really a hard hitting interview was it…felt like a bit of a friendly chat.

Didn’t get too much out of it besides his confidence that we’re building a strong team.

You're feeling irrationally angry about hearing a puff piece from an ex assistant coach on an inconsequential radio station?

Might be best to get moved from Robert Smerdon's stable and check what they have been feeding you there.

6-6 given our early draw would have been pretty reasonable. Given I think we still have the potential (not that I expect us to, but certainly capable of) going 7-3 or even 8-2 for the remainder of the year, that would have had us 13-9 or 14-8.
We would have expected to beat Swans at the start of the season, but given where they've now shown to be at, I don't think that loss was as bad as originally thought. Would have been nice to pinch a game or two against one of the top sides, but we were fairly competitive in most of those losses.
Pies and Eagles now stand out as the biggest missed opportunities.

We are going to struggle to beat Norf. We are 1 game clear of Hawthorn with GWS X2, Geelong, Port, Freo (away) Adelaide, GCS & St.Kilda to come.
Pencil in GCS but the rest are all up in the air...

North, Pies, Freo, Crows, GC and Saints all very winnable. If you think that maybe we split the GWS games, there's your 7.
We've beaten Freo already and also over there recently without Cripps. Also beaten GC already. Beat Geelong down there recently also, so not out of the question. Obviously been pretty close to Port a couple times.
Doom and gloom aside, we do have 7 winnable ones.

Ofcourse they are all winnable. The only problem is that we have forgotton how to win. That win against Essendon is looking better and better as each week progresses.

A game at a time , let’s see how we stack up against GWS ? there not at full strength so we should have a reasonable shot opportunity at wining the game.

Uh oh! That sounds familiar...

Since he left the midfield mix seems to have changed in both personnel and positioning.

Not sure if coincidence or not but liking what I'm seeing despite there being a lot more to do.
More input from Power and less from Stanton I feel. A much harder more positive structure. Walsh to the wing, Dow to the centre supporting Kennedy and Cripps. I'm sure it's all coincidence that our defensive pressure in the midfield has also lifted.

Midfield has vastly improved over the past few weeks.

However, we don't need to continue to rag on Barker any more than we already have to appreciate this.

He gave a decade to the club. Whether he was good or bad is now irrelevant. We've moved on and I wish him the best.
