Wasn't he one of the Sturt players banned from representing SA in the U/18 Championships last year?

If so, him not being selected could have someone to do with a similar incident. As an 18 year old playing at the senior level, he looked at home, and regulary racked up 20 possessions. I think what he does on the field is good enough to get him on an AFL list, his behavior might not be.

Dont be fooled by those 20 possies a game. His disposal is very ordinary, but that can be fixed, and yes he was one of those boys who got the chop from the SA squad. Now we, and other clubs have had our issues with boys AFTER thy were drafted and couldnt adjust to the lifestyle, but for him to be having issues before drafting is always a warning sign to clubs.

Considering they got drunk with Mattner, I don't think it was an overly big issue.

I agree though his disposal is pretty crap considering he is a small bloke and would want to be playing a midfield type role. Where as if he were a bigger bloke, it would not matter as much IMO.

I'm fairly confident it was off field reasons McDonald wasn't drafted, not even rookied. Brodie Martin had barely played Reserves footy, but was rookie drafted by the Crows because he's considered to be a mature and level headed lad who has leadership qualities.

Did you know that when the 18s squad met, when the sturt lads were cut, the coach asked who else had gone out and gotten drunk. A few people put up their hands. They were not cut. real good coach (former sturt coach at that)

If he is as classy as you say Drummond, why was today his first senior game for the year?

Sturt's depth this year is almost freakish.

U17s Premiers, U19s and Reserves straight through to the Grand Final and of course the League side has made a decent run at it;)

This is all by way of saying spots aren't easy to come by at the moment at the SFC.

this is true, but these other boys who were drinking, one who was drafted last year and one that will go top 10 this year also werent naked at a club function at aami stadium or vommitting in the toilets.

Ive been watching him for a long time and he is worthy of the AFL. His head might be a little wayward but the bloke can play football. Has speed, has skills and is HUNGRY for goals. Gets front and centre better than most small forwards and knows how to kick a goal. We certainly could do worse than pick him up late.
