As Richmond are losing a Ruckman and Stafford isn't getting any younger - would this seem a viable trade?

** i am not saying this is going to happen - but would this be a winner for both? **

Jolly for Zantuck and maybe 3rd round pick

I actually think Ward would be good for the Tiges, an underrated player, going fairly cheap. His no-nonsense straightforward work out of defence could be good for Richmond. You wouldn't want to pay too much, of course, but a change of clubs could bring a good result for Ward and the new club.

Have the Tiges got any other ruckman in waiting? I reckon Jolly is ok as a backup in the short term and perhaps no.1 ruckman given a couple of years experience.

Zantuck and Ward is almost a 1 for 1 (mid sized defender) so effectively you're getting Jolly for a 2nd round draft pick. Ruckman who are half decent are rare these days. Just ask the Blues!

Agree,he is under rated.Knows how to get the pill and provides good run from the back line.A not so poor mans Nathan D.Brown.

I'd be happy if Miller targets he and Jolly. We could use both.

Zantuck is the bait, don't know what the sweetner would be.

no way!!

zantuck, and hall, and a pick is more realistic..

id take zantuck just 4 ward..thats it

Jolly ias highly rated by other clubs

Straight out, what's the price on Jolly?

I'd be surprised Melbourne got anything better than pick 20, depending on whether a bidding war breaks out - which could see his price rise.

I would have thought Zantuck and a 3rd Rounder would have gone awfully close.

TZ and Pick #20 is way too high for Jolly. Just the pick itself could seal it if interest is low.

Just chipping in fellas to let you know you are almost right. Spoke to Ty today and he had just left a meeting with the demons, and was pretty confident on going there. On that you'd have to say with Marsh been given the boot Jolly would be a nice trade option.

Jolly would be a decent backup to Stafford, if we could get him for Zantuck I'd be happy. Shame Ty is going though.

If they can't they keep him. He is contracted and a required player so if the deal isn't good enough then we keep him.

Ward for Zantuck. Sounds ok. I thought earlier in the week Ward for Spriggs would be a reasonable deal but wouldn't be unhappy with Zantuck for Ward.

With Jolly it really depends what clubs are look for.

Jolly is okay in the ruck, but has struggled up forward.

Then again, if a coach has a bit of faith in him, and gives him ground time, he could make the next step. Which is why it is a little difficult to judge his trade value.

Personally, I would like an early-mid 2nd round pick, say 20-27.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if Melb try to persuade Jolly to hang around - he still has one year of his contract to run. Furthermore, Melb only have 2 ruckmen on their list if Jolly leaves - White and Jamar. Obviously though, Melb may recruit a young ruckman in the draft, and hope they can put their hand up if White gets hurt.

With Ottens and Simmonds in the market, and you also throw in a key forward who can ruck like N.Thompson, then his value might not be as strong as it would be in another year.

we don't want an over the hill Gaspar and a ******* like Rodan who can't play football
Agreed. Tiges will have to surrender their top 2 draft picksfor us to take on zantuck and that would be compensation 4 putting up with him and compensation for lumping a tre stump called holland on to us. :D
