I hope we don't get him.

People mock us for not getting a big name, but when was the last time a team won a flag by getting a big name?

Granted, teams like Geelong, WCE, Sydney and Port had recycled players, but they weren't brought in as saviours and paid mega bucks.

Jonathon Brown is 26 going on 27 and i think 5 years would be ok, for him , because i do think we need a forward capable of kicking 70+ a year which we havent had since Sav and i think we do need. Although i would rather fev

and i seriously think he would be a better option for us if we wanted somebody capable of winning matches for us.

Obviously the big obstacle is getting him to sign, and agreeing to a deal with the Lions, but Im actually warming to the idea of signing a big name like Brown, not just for his ability ON the field, but also the benefit a great player may bring to our youngsters who are developing their games.

Can you imagine what someone like Kerr or Cousins can teach our young midfielders? Or a Brown or Pavlich can teach our younger forwards?

5year deal for Brown? ... in a friggin' heartbeat!

He would be the only player I would make an exception to coming to the club and making captain straight off too ..... and let's face it if he did come that would probably be part of the package.

But he won't be leaving Brissy.

Yep dead right, it seems pretty clear to me he hates Collingwood. He'll stay in Brissy they'l work it out to keep him. He'd go to the Saint or Tigers before us

i really hope we dont get brown... it would cost way too much of player trades and salary cap... it will limit us going forward.. i really hope this doesnt occur.. not for brown anyway- he is a champ- but hes not collingwood, there is nothing collingwood about him... as mentioned earlier id rather pavlich... he's got more to offer our club.. but having said that i want neither.. get kerr we have rocca and dawes will come through for us...

i wonder if maher is trying to de-stabilise our club with his crap rumours... he knew about judd going to carlton very early and didnt make a big fuss about it...

Spot on about Maher, SM. The only club Brown will leave Brisbane for is Carlton. Carlton are doing exactly what they did with Judd, spread the rumour that it is Collingwood all over this. At least convince Brisbane that it's all Collingwood's fault , then hey presto, Brown announces he wants to go to the Blues.

Don't believe the rubbish in the press about Judd. He had signed with Carlton months before he announced his imminent departure from the Eagles. I wonder how far down the track Brown and Carlton are as we speak????

Of course we would love to have Brown,particularly as we have no likely captains atm, but at what cost??? All our past efforts at buying success like Carlton have done a few times have been miserable failures.

Let's do our homework (re. the draft) and draft good kids, hopefully ones who can kick well. Our success will be far more honourable .

That's pretty bloody poor if true. Forget about Brown, not going to happen and it wouldn't benefit us as much as a midfielder or some good draft picks would.
