Jordan Russell - on the up

All along I have been hard on J Russell. Up until now I think with good cause but the last couple of weeks I have to say he has looked so composed.

Previously my instincts have gone...oh no, its JR near the ball... but for the first time EVER, when the ball went near JR on the w/e, to my astonishment I found myself going, it'll be ok, JR has it - wonders never cease!

Gratz to JR who earlier this season graduated from bad to sort of still bad...to now...jeez, you look like getting upgraded to a decent pass mark!!

Anyways, JR, if you read the forums, this is for you....well done mate! And please, keep up the good form!

Sorry guys, just went a bit hysterical there...for a minute there I thought we'd won 6 from 7, beaten Geelong and had JR and Armfield looking accomplished in defence!

I'm sure its about to happen, you know, click your heels 3 times and all that!

Think its pretty obvious jr's confidence is well up after his little vfl stint, he seems to be carrying himself better and looks to be shouldering more responsibility, would probably be a great player to get involved in the leadership group, (if he isnt already). Definately looking more accomplished in disposal & run & we all know his 1%'s are fantastic but dont like to say it in the past!

Have been really impressed with JR over the past couple of weeks. Wasn't sure he would succeed as a negating type, but he has really done a good job. I really felt that he wouldn't continue to be given a go at AFL level, but to his credit, he has been able to build his confidence, and really cement his spot in our best 22.

I always thou he would, just like setanta will, dont know bout yarran thou.... buddy's cuz seems to be ahead leaps and bounds. And as soon as Hampson learns how to kick for goal and pretty much in general play(not bagging him either and i know he can do it, he has come a long way from the funny attempt to tackle rodan in last years final rd i think and just pushed him in the back because he was running to quick to stop) hahaha i think we will be looking really scary to the oppo.. with 2 cox like ruckmen.... i hope lol

JR has been playing some decent football recently which everyone can agree with. Do people think that if he was sent to the Ants during last year when Ratts refused to drop him and persist with him that the same effect thats happening now could of happened a year ago?

Doubt it. I still don't think JR is out of the woods but it is just a nice feeling to pick up that sense of "JR has it covered"...which I think has never been there before.

For a shorter time, the same thing applies to Army!

The change has not been in loose ball gets or rebounds but more in one-on-one contests where Carlton have been weak. Both of these guys have been winning a majority of their contests! Have noticed their delivery has been better as well which is an added bonus!

When everyone talks about JR, including the papers, Ratts etc., I keep thinking of that crappy hair advert which says "feel the confidence"
