Were Russell's last two years (his second and third years in AFL) any different to Walker's first two years?

There may have been an age difference but i thought Russell was taken relatively young.

Walker showed a lot more, was given significant roles and actually stood up to beat his more fancied opponents.

Russel hasn't really stepped up to any mark at all, but hey some players take longer to mature than others. IMO he should be in the bullants if he doesn't meet the standard, and only warrant selection based on form not his draft pick / potential.
